James Wan not doing horror and using CGI over practicals is not my cup of tea. However, horrorfans will notice the “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” reference and Cthulhu lookalike (CGI) creatures in this somewhat dull but never boring action spectacle.
Horror or not, Wan knows what a movie should be: fun!

Not horror but still enjoyable for genre addicts

It’s Friday the 13th. Sorry Jason for watching this today instead of one of the greatest slasher series of all time. But I don’t have any regrets.

SICK is a pure simplistic slasher done right by SCREAM writer Kevin Williamson and ALONE director John Hyams. Wild, bloody and tense with very effective chase sequences from start to finish.
Questions who is more sick: those who test positive or those who try to run away for the virus.

Kudos to Williamson and Hyams for turning the mosted discussed themes of recent years into such an enjoyable simple slasher flick.

    Again, sorry Jason.

I can’t believe, I’ve never heard of this 80’s gem before, but this is the reason why we still watch all 80’s horrormovies (to find some truly great ones!).
The story about a plane crash survivor who is followed by dead people plays out like the real pre-Final Destination. The movie is a bit slow at times but the tone and atmosphere are so tense, with some really creepy scenes that make It Follows looks like it borrowed from this.…

Unapologetically campy and silly which adds even more of the fun in a James Wan Malignant kind of way. A pleasant surprise for a January horror-release. Almost 7 years after the fantastic Housebound, Gerard Johnstone finds the right balance between horror and comedy again.

Just the PG13 rating is a missed opportunity here imo. It’s not that gore is the most important thing, but it feels like M3gan is holding back what could’ve been a total ridiculous rollercoaster.
Still a good start for 2023 horror with potential for a sequel. I’m totally in for what M3gan comes up with next.
