  There is searing, cathartic fury at the heart of Muru. It keeps burning, brighter and brighter. All while it tells a fictionalised amalgamation of the various attacks by our coloniser state on Tūhoi. Telling it, it should be noted, in the style of a shiny, widescreen four-quadrant action piece. Complete with the cops as black hatted villains with hearts of ice.

  The sheer nerve, ambition and invention of this collision—a lava-churning hatred of injustice hitting a thick charcuterie of mainstream tropes— is incredible…
