Life 2017
This has long been a movie of my list to watch so was disappointed by how little I cared for it.
While it hit all the right “creature feature” vibes with the monster, somehow the plot advancement both felt rushed and overly drawn out.
The biggest weakness of the film, however, was the predictability. The jump scares were ineffective (and many) with a plot with no major twist, albeit an attempted one at the end that was really not surprising.…

Another Wendigoon recommendation, I (mistakenly) watched late before going to bed.
In all I loved the pacing and the premise; unlike other found footage films of this genre this one stays well in the world of realism, reminiscent of “Creep” which just adds to the horror—going so far as to acknowledge and explain at one point the awkwardness of camera angles the killer managed.
The subject matter is quite disturbing and intense, and while there are some depictions of gore…

Talk to Me 2022
I had been waiting to watch this film after Papa Meat recommended it last year and it was worth the wait!
It is not a typical horror film like we’ve come to expect, but is a little more of a slow burn.
I absolutely loved the intentionality behind the symbolism of doors (no spoilers, just pay attention every time a door is used or mentioned!) which showed a real artistic attentiveness that can sometimes be lost in the horror genre…
