China, India, Russia, and the US are among the top wheat producers. Highly nutritious and long-lasting, wheat has become a staple in diets across the globe whether it be in bread, pasta, cereal or pastries. It is also used in the production of beer, whiskey, and cooking oil. Wheat is not only a food source but has other applications as well. Gluten, a protein found in wheat and other grains, can be used to create medical capsules and to coat some paper products.
