Work Details
What is the scope of the work? Repairing & Replacement of Counter weight Sheave
What high risk work activities are Buffering of Counter weight; Working in Pit; Working on car top; Hanging the Elevator Cabin; Arresting the main ropes;
covered by this MS? Removing and Re fixing of counter weight sheave and its bearing; Shifting of lifting equipment’s & Hand Tools; scaffolding
operations.
Inform the customer: Inform the customer about the work description.
Safety Tool Box Talk Conduct TBT with the Team; Fill the JHA/START Card, Discuss Hazard and Risk Assessment which will be involved
during work. Inspect all the tools are certified before start of work.
Warning signs Place the caution signage board and barricading the place where risk of falling exists.
PPE Required Hand gloves, Safety shoes, full body harness, safety goggles, Hard Hat & dust masks (if required)
Buffering the counter weight Buffering the counter weight very close to the pit.
Hanging the car Hang the car in top floor by using two chain blocks (5 .T) and 4 no’s webbing slings. (5 .T & 3.T), additional safety activate
governor clutch.
Scaffolding operation As the length of counter weight is more than 7 meters from Pit, it is difficult to do the task from the pit or with a ladder. The
better solution to work safely is to build up a scaffolding up to the counter weight shave with a working platform.
Bearing / Shaft Repair works The dismantled sheaves Industrial Area work shop. (Sheaves weight 60 Kg)
Replacing the New diverter wheel Replace the New counter weight sheave. Ensure that the bearing is properly fixed.

Free the car from hanging Release the safety clutch & Un-hang the car by loosening & removing the chain block.
Dismantling of scaffolding / lifting By part, the scaffolding elements / lifting gears are dismantled and shifted back to the store.

Observe the Elevator operation Observe the elevator operation for some extent. (1 Hour)
