Nowadays the way many people interact with each
other has changed because of technology.
In what ways has technology affected the types of relationships that people make? Has this been a positive or negative development? ____ ĐỒNG Ý: Today, rapid technological change has had an influence on communication between people. Many are of the opinion that relationships have been adversely affected by technology. However, I find this view implausible on the following grounds. Technology is integral to relationships in business, education, and social life. Firstly, telephones and the Internet allow business people in distant countries to communicate without ever meeting. A case in point is that in the past, cooperation between people in different countries was much more difficult when communication was limited to written letters or telegrams. Many business opportunities were lost because people were late for meetings. Nevertheless, nowadays, interactions by email, phone, or video are almost as good as face-to-face meetings. In addition, services like Google Meeting create new possibilities for relationships between students and teachers. For instance, a student can now take video lessons with a teacher in a different city or country. Finally, many people use social networks, like Facebook, to make new friends, and they interact through their computers rather than face-to-face. On the other hand, some opponents claim that the availability of new communication technologies can limit genuine friends. Conversely, this is not justified since whether or not people get close depends on their initiative and empathy. Thus, despite meeting face-to-face, if we don't regularly update each other's status, understand and appreciate other's individual values, good and bad aspects, that friendship will not be sustainable. In conclusion, technology has certainly revolutionized communication between people, and many of us benefit from these interactions, either in work or social contexts.

Another case in point is that teenagers prefer to stay at home and watch movies alone rather than hang out with friends for activities such as drinking milk tea and chatting. Furthermore, when parents are busy, they frequently leave their children alone at home with a technical device, so the young are more prone to depression and loneliness today. Moreover, living in a high-tech world makes several people more superficial. Many individuals are skeptical of pedestrians as a result of greater knowledge of fraud in the media. Hence, even when witnessing someone in an accident, we are hesitant to assist because we are afraid it is a ruse to plunder. On the other hand, some opponents claim that the availability of new communication technologies can widen relationships. Conversely, this is not justified since, due to a lack of face-to-face interaction, we cannot find a genuine friend. In conclusion, technology has certainly revolutionized communication between people. We need to be seriously concerned about several of the negative outcomes of this revolution to prevent them.
