Name of Activity: Catch -Up Friday Implementation
Date: February 23, 2024
Venue: MacArthur National High School JHS Grade 9 Room
1. Implement Catch-Up Friday to provide focused and targeted
reading interventions, specifically designed to reinforce
literacy and numeracy skills, addressing identified gaps and
challenges in student understanding.
2. Utilize Catch-Up Friday as a tool to track and monitor
individual student progress in literacy and numeracy,
enabling educators to adapt interventions based on real-

each student.
3. Integrate Catch-Up Friday into the weekly schedule, which
aims to improve overall academic performance by
addressing foundational literacy and numeracy issues
promptly, fostering a supportive learning environment, and
empowering students with the skills needed for success in
other subjects.
Highlights of the Activity 1. Prepare and plan the activities using Teacher’s
Guide and Lesson Plan for Catch -Up Friday based
and Discussions:
on the memorandum.
2. Conduct Orientation of Catch-Up Friday
3. Schedule the sessions for the reading activities
during the morning per assigned Class advisers
and assigned subject teachers for the afternoon
sessions integration on the following :
1:00 – 2:00 PM – Values Education
2:00 – 3:00 PM – Health Education
3:00 – 4:00 PM -Peace Education
4:00 – 5:00 PM - HGP
4. The following were the suggested activities which
employs differentiated instructions:
1. Small Group Reading Sessions:
Conduct small group reading sessions tailored to students'
specific skill levels and needs.
Use leveled reading materials that match each group's
proficiency to provide targeted support.

2. One-on-One Reading Support:


Arrange one-on-one reading sessions with struggling readers
to address individual challenges and offer personalized
guidance.
Employ strategies such as guided reading, where the teacher
provides support based on the student's reading level.

3. Interactive Read-Aloud Sessions:


Conduct interactive read-aloud sessions where the teacher
models good reading habits, asks comprehension questions,
and encourages discussion to enhance understanding.

4. Literacy Games and Puzzles:


Introduce literacy games and puzzles that reinforce reading
skills in a playful manner, promoting engagement and
making learning enjoyable.

5. Digital Resources:
Integrate educational apps and online platforms that offer
interactive reading exercises, quizzes, and digital books to
cater to different learning styles.

The whole program offers a way to lessen the students at


MacArthur National High School's problems with reading literacy
and numeracy. This intervention program addresses the various
requirements of students who have low proficiency levels in reading
comprehension and fluency. Differentiated instruction is integrated
to promote student involvement and to provide scaffolding and
positive reinforcement for their reading skills.

Problem(s) Encountered: 1. The attendance of students are limited.
Recommendation: 1. Strict monitoring of the attendance for the said activity
by the class advisers and subject teachers.
