'Banana.' Students will be instructed to sing along with the teacher and
mimic the actions demonstrated. The song narrates the process of eating a
banana in the correct sequence of events, all while incorporating dance
movements.

B. Lesson Proper

Activity: (Pre-Listening Activity)

“Unravel the Mystery"

In this activity, students will listen as the teacher reads a procedural

essay on 'how to bake cookies.' Their challenge is to unravel the correct
sequence of events by identifying missing signal cues in the text.
“How to Bake Cookies”

There's nothing like a batch of homemade cookies to lift your spirits and make
your house smell wonderful. Here are the steps on how to achieve cookie perfection,
every time. ____, preheat your oven to 350°F. ____, gather your ingredients: all-
purpose flour, baking soda, unsalted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, salt, pure
vanilla extract, eggs, and semisweet chocolate chips. In a mixing bowl, whisk together
the flour and baking soda, setting it aside. _____, using an electric mixer, cream
together room-temperature butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt until light
and fluffy. ____, add the eggs one by one, ensuring each is well incorporated before
adding vanilla extract. _____, gradually introduce the dry ingredient mixture into the
wet mixture, being cautious not to over mix. ____, fold in the semisweet chocolate
chips and bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden
but the centers remain soft. Allow your cookies to cool for a few minutes before
transferring them to another container for complete cooling. ___, you're ready to enjoy
your homemade chocolate chip cookies!

Analysis:
1. How does the passage make you feel about baking cookies at home?
2. Do you think it is important to follow a recipe in order? Why or why not?
3. Do you ever followed a recipe or put something together following directions?

Abstraction: (During Listening Activity)

While Listening Activity:
“Unlocking the Time Ladder: Sequencing Adventures Await!”

Students will identify the cues or signals that indicate the sequence of events
while listening to a short story entitled “The Servant and the Prince”. After that, they
will fill in the ladder graphic organizer, listing the cues in the correct order.
Application: (Post Listening Activity)

"Sequence Me Chronologically"

The teacher will show incorrect order of events from the passage, without the
word cues. Students are tasked to arrange the events from the listening passage in
their correct chronological order using a sequence graphic organizer.

Directions: Arrange the events in their correct chronological order by writing the
sentences in a graphic organizer. Use the cue words listed in your ladder graphic
organizer and write those before each of the sentences.

Incorrect order of events

 He always acted well with the servant.

 The prince and the servant were going to a neighboring country.
 There was a streak of lightning in the sky and the servant took advantage of
the opportunity to swing the riding-whip.
 He was furious and he struck the servant on his head as hard as he could.
 The prince made his strong horse walk slower and waited for the servant
because of the loud thunder.
 The prince thought that God was punishing him for what he did to his servant.
