help some people on twitter are talking about how weird to autotune in the recording sounds but i am almost positive that the song was autotuned like that at my show too. like now that im thinking about it it doesnt make sense but i remember it sounding autotuned like that. am i crazy
#oh yeah its always been autotuned--thats the style of vocals in the genre theyve gone for#its the point lol#tho i will agree that it does sound Different than it did in the theatres (i saw it 7 times ok i know)#however theres a few reasons that explain it to me#1 - sound in a theatre is different than sound in speakers/headphones. it just is. no matter what the method of delivery is different#2 - there is no crowd noise in the show recording version whereas the palladium was *bumping* i assure you bc i was there#so your personal recollection of the song will be coloured by the impact of several thousand phannies screaming#3/subnote to 2 - theres crowd noise & live vocals for the rest of the show so the sudden 'cut' to silence & autotune is jarring in the video#other possible influences: the amount of live vocals on top on any given night; mixing differences#theres been reverb and echoing and autotune the whole time lmao i thought we all knew this#they are Not chappell roan who can do all her pop songs w/ dance choreo on stage whilst singing extremely clearly on key with good tone#dnp

#okay but like. even 'phil doesnt believe in marraige' is absolutely wild to me#i know people pull on that old out of context quote wherein 'marraige is only a piece of paper--if its an unhappy one' re: his thoughts#but every single thing about phil screams that he very much respects marraige as an institution#note: him having respect for it and wanting to get married are 2 different things#but he's so very much a romantic. and then you hear him talk about his parents.#he's very pro-marraige--as long as it is what both parties want. and that people are happy and looked after#does he personally want it? i dunno. he doesn't talk about it the way that dan does#if i had to project. i think he wants to be happy. in whatever way that looks. i think he wants *dan* to be happy and comfy and safe#and he'll happily do whatever is necessary to make that a reality. bc he loves him#and making things work. and looking out for each other. is simply what you *do*#(not in a forceful way. but in an intentionality way. in a 'im putting the effort in bc i care' way)#it's 'believable' to me to hear dan complain about commitment issues. even if i don't agree with his self-diagnoses#we also have more insight as to Why that is the case for dan#but theyre Both extremely possessive and protective of each other#and they Know what marraige means#dnp

just sitting here smiling to myself thinking about the rebrand and the future of dan and phil and they make my heart feel so full and for once this lingering feeling that this could all go away at any time has actually disappeared from my mind
#bethanie i think youve talked me off of the ledge before about all of this#but i feel the same way as you here#that latent anxiety is so... quiet now#yes theyve said theyre not going anywhere. but this is Different#talk is cheap. i need actions and intentionality#and damn if that isnt exactly dan howell saying he wants to commit and put a ring on it#and that he's choosing *this*#and that theyve sat down after the craziness of tour and went. okay. what *does* come next?#and they chose each other. and are actively taking steps in that direction.#and the fact that they told us so SOON. they never tell us things until it's already in-progress/almost done#so letting us in this early? either giving us time to prepare. or they genuinely cannot wait to tell us bc theyre excited#so i feel. a sense of peace in my soul.#dnp
something about phil's insistence that they can just continue doing what they're doing--there's no need to run off for months and emerge with something new. they can work on projects but also be here doing fun things together. new things can and will happen, just not at the expense of the now. he's having fun being back and he knows we are too and he refuses to unnecessarily step away
