Design and style from a Scandinavian perspective

Saturday Sweets

A bag full of random goodies from my inspirations folder. Shout if you know the source for any of the photos.

Flickr Favourites Friday

This is what the last week of August should be like. A warm sunlight on your back as you enjoy the summer one last time.

Marimekko Autumn 2008

A few of my favorites from the new collection from Marimekko:

Photographer Kristin Perers

London based and Florida born photographer Kristin Perers trained as both a fashion designer and painter before she got in to photography and styling, and I think it shows in some of her photos. She has a way with lines, textures and layers that could easily transcript to a dress or a painting.
Kristin is also the author of the book Seasonal Home. I find her pictures very calming and soothing for the mind and eye, a treasure in this stressful world we are living in, and would love to cuddle up on my couch with her book and a cup of tea...

Saturday Sweets

Time for a bag of eye candy again! Livingrooms this time.

Feeling striped and streaky.

Toast A/W 2008

The A/W 2008 catalogue from Toast is up on their site, and check out the gorgeousness! Rich colours, lots of layers, great photography and as always fabulous styling!

Small Autumn issue now online

Even if you don't have kids, the childrens fashion and lifestyle online magazine Small will give you lots of inspiration for fall. Many of the outfits would look just as good on an adult, and the photos and illustrations will get your mind spinning for sure. In the new issue of Small Magazine you will find some cool illustrations by Jayme McGowan and Ryan Berkley, beautiful fashion shot by photographer Grant Cornett and to top it off, polaroids by Jen Gotch!

Hanna Nyman's wallpapers

Hanna Nyman makes the most innovative and fresh wallpaper I've seen for a very long time. Interactive, three dimensional and stunningly beautiful!

Flickr Favourites

Ok, summer is officially over. The kids started school today, so I guess that means I should get back to daily posting here now. But I'm not done with summer yet! I want more. I always do.

Limonclaro, a new stylish webshop

I just found this new Barcelona based online shop for vintage furniture and interior details, called Limonclaro. The photos are great and the items for sale are beautiful!

Familjen, a fabric collection by Hanna Säfström

Hanna Säfström, a Swedish decorative painter and colour consultant, has had a dream of creating her own patterns and textiles for a long time, and now it's become reality! The patterns are named after her family members, chosen to correspond with each of their unique personalities. I especially like these two leaf patterns, called Bengt and Clara.
You can view the whole collection and buy the fabrics by the metre and as cushion covers, bed linen and trays at Hanna's site.

Saturday Sweets

These are actually my favorite blog posts, totally free to show you whatever I want! Once I find a nice picture I just go from there to build a theme around it. Sometimes I end up somewhere totally different than I thought from the beginning, and that is one of the things I love most about composing these posts... Today I was thinking about morning routines, inspired by one of Holly's posts about how to relax when you work from home, over on the simply stated blog.

And I'm happy to see that it seems you like the Saturday Sweets posts too, as they usually get quite a lot of comments!

Ps. Don't get all jealous now, my mornings are nothing like this, especially not when the kids are here... But I wish they were!

Sweet art from Sweet Paul

Look what Paul Lowe over at the Sweet Paul blog sent me yesterday! He said he was inspired by a picture I showed here several months ago, with a similar artpiece. Isn't it sweet? Click on over to his blog to see more word crafts he made...

Also, I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate Paul on his engagement!

Thinking about parties...

I don't know why, but lately I've been thinking a whole lot about party decorations. Unfortunately, we don't have any upcoming birthdays in the family, but hey, you can throw a party anyway, right? Just because it's fun! Below are some pictures that gets my head spinning...

Join me in Amsterdam!

My sweet friend Holly at Decor8 is arranging a blog meet in Amsterdam on September 5th, and I would like to invite you all to join us there!
It's going to be a bunch of bloggers, and blog readers, having cocktails and chatting excitedly about anything and everything and probably a little bit about blogging and design too... If this sounds like something you would enjoy, please come along! I know it's going to be a lot of fun, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing Holly, Danielle and Sia again, and meeting new interesting people!

If you want to join us, just contact Holly here, so we know you are coming!

Arabeschi di Latte

Arabeschi di Latte styles food, eating events and food packaging in a way that really speaks to me. I like their playful and simple style, it looks very inviting!

"The group purpose is to experiment with new design concepts. It focuses on food fascination and the power of food to create situations and relationships.
What characterises Arabeschi di Latte is a principle of “daily sense of happiness” pursued through various strategies of participation and alternative functional models that respond to basic and pleasure needs of the social life."

Ps. I'd like to take a moment to thank everyone who leaves a comment here. I truly appreciate it, every single one of them, it's just that I really don't have time to answer them all. But I want you to know that I love reading your comments. Thank you!

My own inspirations

I would like to show you a little of what I have in my private inspirations folder, pictures that inspire me when I'm decorating my own home. Lately I've been thinking a lot about what to do with the piles of used clothes that magically appear everywhere around the apartment. Perhaps hanging them on the wall would be a good solution?
