This week brought lots of great news if you are looking for new items for your home, a great coffee table book, some cool yoga gear or perhaps even a new home. And I know you will wonder if I picked them all because of the greige color... But no, I did not, it's a lucky coincidence. Or perhaps the trendiest hue of this autumn. Who can tell.
Let's start with the first one, the opening of interior designer and decorator
Oliver Gustav's online shop. If you had your eyes open for the last year, you will have seen Oliver's name pop up in every travel guide on Copenhagen, and also as the designer of Yvonne Koné's new shop. His brick and mortar shop is a mandatory stop for any design interested Copenhagen visitor, and I am sure the online boutique was anticipated by many. It carries a curated selection of Mad et Len fragrances, objects by Michaël Verheyden, as well as a few carefully chosen decorative items.
Lotta Agaton and Pia Ulin's book finally launched, and is available in
Lotta's webshop with four different covers!
Le Yoga Shop Paris, where you will find what in my mind is the world's most stylish lounge wear (I haven't jumped on the yoga train yet), launched their A/W 2014 collection, and a new issue of their
magazine. Created by the Naddermier couple, Kia being a fashion photographer and Magnus a Creative Director, you can expect style out of the ordinary, but also a deep knowledge in yoga as they have both been practising for more then 20 years, and Kia is the founder of
Mysore Yoga Paris – one of Paris’ most authentic and well respected yoga studios. They collaborate with some amazing creatives to develop the brand, like Filippa K, Hope, Burfitt and OFR.
And lastly, if you are looking for a new home, or perhaps just want to look at the pictures for some great decorating inspiration,
Pella is selling her
house!
The Seven Chair by Arne Jacobsen celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2015, and to mark this occasion
Fritz Hansen launches two new special editions of the chair. I fell for this soft pink one, with super luxe 24k gold plated legs!
What I love most is the styling though. Fritz Hansen's images are always great, shot in amazing locations and made by the best stylists and photographers. Somehow they manage to always create something new from these old classics, a feeling of freshness and being right on trend. I think that is really impressive.
Let's start this week with something slightly macabre! This new restaurant in Jalisco, Mexico, is covered in bones. Over 10 000 of them actually. Designed by Ignacio Cadena and aptly named Hueso (= bones in Spanish), "a reference to the chef’s natural cooking style. It’s part of a “Darwinian vision,”" says designer Ignacio Cadena, and required six months of scouring north Mexico, cleaning, and purifying to get the off-white skeletal pieces ready.
You probably know by now that I don't really do holiday decorating in my home. It's just not for me, all this gold and glitter extravaganza, or the shabby chic white painted cuteness, and definitely not the traditional red and green version either. This graphic, slightly edgy DIY xmas style though, this I could do!
Totally loving the gradient paintwork on the display boxes in the new Backyard boutiqe, designed by Nendo. I'm thinking of using the idea for a headboard for my bed, or maybe just a big sheet of plywood with hooks attached to it, for hallway storage...
"The shop design for by | n, an original brand with all nendo-designed products located in the Seibu Sogo department stores in Tokyo. BACKYARD refers both to a shop’s storage space or loading dock and a tiny paradise for children, an outdoor space for free play. We wanted to combine the novelty of the commercial back yard, in which new products arrive straight from the workshop, with the excitement of playing in the back yard at home. Simple white fixtures bring out the rich variety of the different products, and the plinths and stands’ plywood texture appears gradually towards the base."
I suspect you have all started thinking about holiday presents now, so I figured I'd make a set of gift guides to give you some ideas and inspiration. They will all have different themes, and why not start with the most important person to spoil; yourself! ;) Since my family keeps to the tradition of not buying gifts for adults, I always get my own presents, and this is what I'd like to give myself. And as you are reading this blog, I believe we might have similar tastes, so perhaps some of these items will end up on your wishlist too?
Have you heard of
Curater? I just read about it over at
Trendenser, and the concept seemed so silly to me that I had to click over to their site to see what it was all about. Apparently it's a subscription service for art, in a digital form, streamed to a special screen in your home. The stream is curated by "leading art institutions and internationally renowned curators" (all unnamed though), and is planned to be launched "sometime in the next 12 months". The Curater site looks like a standard Squarespace template, and while there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, it's not what one expects from a brand like Acne. And digital frames? Wasn't that Christmas Present of the Year in 1996?
Whether this is for real, or just a big spoof, is yet to be seen. Either way, I'm not convinced.
