  “We speak now, tonight, and then these things are never spoken of again, agreed?”

  Presumed Innocent was great, just go watch it if you’ve never seen. I don’t have much to say about the movie that hasn’t already been said, except what happened to these small story, well crafted “beach read” movies with solid direction and A list actors? I really miss those. And where the fuck did Bonnie Bedelia and Brian Dennehy go?

  I was expecting Grand Theft Hamlet to be a sort of early 2000s machinima, GTA Online production of Hamlet a la Red vs Blue, but instead it was a documentary? mockumentary? reality TV? version of *attempting* to make Hamlet in GTA Online—the marketing sold a far more interesting premise than what I saw. There’s some clearly scripted moments played as real drama…

  Mars Express 2023

  I’m picky about sci-fi and Mars Express was fucking excellent. This film has some of the best sleight-of-hand world building this side of Prospect and Her, along with some truly stellar directing. There’s no need to elaborate further, just go watch it.

Following
