Just some guy who likes to track stuff in lists. And watch good movies, presumably, but honestly it's mostly about the lists.

Ratings bump for the complete edition, this time I even understood the plot (such as there is).

    Final Destination 5

A solid return to form (although this particular horror franchise is much more even than most in terms of quality) with some interesting casting, good variations on the mechanics of avoiding death, and some franchise connecting shenanigans that wouldn't have been out of place in the Fast and Furious series and that I am totally here for!

On the surface level, this may look like a low-budget collection of noisy group hang scenes, but I really connected to it emotionally. A group of high school friends and acquaintances comes together for one last hurrah after the sudden death of their charismatic yet aloof club president. The film covers coming-of-age topics, grief, and the harmful effects of romantic incompatibility and poor communication.

The film portrays the lives of a group of Japanese teenagers that don't fit into the well-established patterns that society has laid out for them. With no positive role models in sight, these kids' lives are threatening to spiral wildly out of control, and the film shows little restraint in letting that happen. Maybe a bit too edgy for its own good, but an interesting watch nonetheless.
