    Psycho

I watched Psycho for my second Hitchcock film. I liked it about the same as Vertigo. Psycho was faster paced and had more immediate horror moments while vertigo was slower but had a deeper plot. I noticed several similarities in the two films. Hitchcock used a profile shot of the main actress similar to the one he used several times on Judy during Vertigo. Additionally Hitchcock used a shot peering over the actresses shoulder as she looked at the mirror, like Judy did in her hotel room. Overall I really enjoyed both films.

Another example of Godard like editing is the final sequence of the film. The two masked girls approach gucci manes lare while shooting his cronies. The scene is filled with jump cuts, breaking of the 180 and 30 degree rules and ellipsis' much like Breathless.

    Spring Breakers

One Scene I may want to use in the final essay comes at around 10-15 minutes into the film. The girls discuss how they need to make money to go on spring break. While they plan, shots cut in and out of the girls at various locales around campus. The whole time the girls provide voiceover as the shots jump from seemingly disconnected scenes and times. This is reminiscent of Godards style of editing because it jumps location and time frequently.

    Breathless

An unconventional scene that breaks the rules in Godard's Breathless is the scene where Jean Paul Belmondo is driving through the countryside. The scene culminates in the shooting of a Police officer, but the shot noticeably misses the action of Belmondo firing the gun. The film then cuts to Belmondo sprinting through a field. Goddard uses a jump cut to skip directly to the important actions. This is an unconventional approach seeing as most directors would look to capture the full scene of the shooting and fleeing.
