Hi everyone
So i hate to do this again, but due to both personal stresses and the state of the world I’m officially going on an indefinite hiatus. I love running this blog and helping people but one, i have a ton of stressors happening in my personal life, and two, it feels wrong running a silly little gimmick blog when people are being needlessly slaughtered, persecuted against, and dehumanized in huge numbers for simply being, in the US, in Palestine, Sudan, Ghana, and so many other places. I’m black, trans, AFAB, and neurodivergent living in the US, so daily I’ve had to deal with trauma personal to me in the states while trying to do what I can to take action against the atrocities happening overseas. All that to say there are significantly more important things I think should be being done than running a gimmick blog on tumblr. As much as I love this platform and have had a blast with it, it’s also kinda terrible for my mental health, and something bad for my mental health has to go before I completely break down. I love y’all and have had a great time. If ever the world calms down, perhaps I’ll come back, but for now I’m deleting tumblr and stepping back.
It might sound selfish but I’m also not gonna be offering to hand off this blog to anyone else, this was a really fun personal thing for me to explore my special interest and as somebody who doesn’t have a ton to myself and is not interested in chasing any sort of legacy, I don’t feel any urge to keep it going under someone else’s moderation. I’d never had a platform before this so I’d like to keep it 100% mine, even when I’m not in a place to run it. I know that might be a bit of a controversial choice but it’s the one that feels right to me.
Thanks for coming along with me on this fun little project. Sorry for the things I said I’d do eventually that never came to fruition. Keep loving cars and learning about them, I hope at least a couple people who follow me here pursue that interest.

There's something called a KOSA Bill in the US. It's a project planning to cut off internet access to ALL CHILDREN WORLDWIDE. This means they are banning Chai/C.AI, Wattpad, AO3, Discord, Tumblr, Tiktok, etc.
To make matters worse, parents will have access to their children's internet activity, meaning chats, websites visited, apps opened, etc. Giving them NO privacy whatsoever. Esp. children who are LGBTQIA+, because in the US, it is deemed "inappropriate".
There is a solution to this, however only to people who have Tiktok, there is a user named omarsbigsister, if you check their profile, you can see in their bio it says "STOP KOSA!! ⬇️⬇️"

What if we summoned a bunch of gimmick blogs to help, like haiku bot
so my car blog got tagged in this but i wanted to reblog it here as an example of doing fucking research. i looked up the bill and actually read through it and no it’s not cutting off internet access for minors, no it’s not trying to shut down ao3. it’s holding websites and online spaces accountable for protecting minors from content that could severely harm them, like bullying, encouraging eating disorders, self harm, stuff like that.

it has a whole section on reeling back advertising to children. it’s not trying to stop kids from writing fanfiction it’s trying to keep kids from developing anorexia by keeping them away from content glorifying it and not advertising diet pills to children. it’s trying to keep children from being bullied into suicide. maybe there’s something i missed but having read multiple articles as well as having skimmed the bill itself it’s not trying to shut down access to the internet to anybody for the sake of “think of the children”. yes, part of the bill is forcing these online spaces to offer tools to aid parents in putting safeguards in place, and yes that will mean some parents might go too hard on those, but they’re not forcing anyone to use them. it’s just implementing things like safesearch in more places.

people are also concerned about it becoming a censorship thing, and while i understand how it could potentially become a gateway to that, so can literally anything put in place to help people. because again, this bill is not trying to get anything taken down or removed, and it’s not trying to make parents internet cops. it’s trying to hold online spaces accountable for keeping content that is directly harmful to kids away from them, and setting up ways of reporting genuinely harmful stuff. fuck man, the bill got criticized by right wingers BECAUSE IT DOESN’T specify lgbtq+ content and trans healthcare as harms
so before you go off fearmongering for the love of god actually look into what you’re saying and sharing. and before you get outraged and start trying to blow something up online you really should make sure you know what you’re mad about first
