Literary Canon

El canon de la edad de plata de la poesía española -la generación del 27- se ha revisado con especial interés a partir del proyecto transmedia Las Sinsombrero. Este artículo indaga en cómo ha afectado este fenómeno en la enseñanza de literatura española, centrándose en la Educación Secundaria Obligatoria, y en el panorama crítico literario, prestando atención a la publicación de antologías. Este doble enfoque permite analizar, a la vez, la configuración y la difusión del valor estético de una época. Por otra parte, se examina la génesis, la evolución y la operatividad del concepto de Sinsombrero.

Jau ankstyvuoju Maironio kanonizacijos laikotarpiu, iki 1918 m., literatūros kritikoje pasireiškė dvilypė poeto kūrybos vertinimo tendencija: profesionalūs to meto literatūros kritikai didžiausią meninę vertę pripažino intymiajai, gamtos lyrikai, tačiau kartu pažymėjo, kad skaitytojų palankumą ir populiarumą Maironis pelnė ne jos, o savo patriotinių eilių dėka. Lemtingo pastarųjų tekstų poveikio tautiniam atgimimui aspektas tarpukario Lietuvoje tapo esminiu poeto kūrybos vertinimo ir kanonizacijos kriterijumi.
Svarbiausią poziciją nacionaliniame kanone pelniusiomis Maironio kūrybos savybėmis ankstyvojoje kritikoje įvardijamas emocinis įtaigumas, gebėjimas telkti ideologiškai susiskaldžiusią, socialinių ribų padalytą tautinę bendruomenę, formuoti jos tapatybę bei orientuoti jos veiksmus, t. y. steigti estetines ir moralines normas, į kurias galėtų orientuotis bendruomenės nariai.
Apytikriai nuo XX a. antro dešimtmečio vidurio Maironis palaipsniui prarado savo pozicijas aktualiajame literatūros kanone. Kaip viena iš svarbių priežasčių minėtina pakitusi literatūros lauko žaidėjų konsteliacija. Simbolistai, keturvėjininkai, trečiafrontininkai revizavo nacionalinės literatūros kanoną kvestionuodami centrinę Maironio poziciją jame. Vis dėlto, be paskirų Jurgelionio, Binkio, Kiršos publikacijų, kuriose iš tiesų ryškėja Maironio dekanonizacija, dauguma kitų trečio dešimtmečio kritikų teatmetė po 1918 m. pasirodžiusią, esą idėjiškai ir stilistiškai laiko dvasios nebeatitinkančia poeto kūrybą (ypač poemą Mūsų vargai) nepaneigdami Maironio kaip tautinio atgimimo laikų klasiko statuso. Tuo pat metu, kai Maironis jaunosios generacijos kritikų buvo ryžtingai šalinamas iš aktualiojo (dabarties) literatūros kanono, vyresnės kartos kritikų, taip pat besiformuojančio literatūros mokslo ir besikuriančios mokyklinės lietuvių literatūros programos pastangomis Maironis įsitvirtino ilgalaikio reprezentacinio kanono centre. Tam didžiausios reikšmės turėjo palaipsniui susiformavęs Maironio kaip tautinio atgimimo pranašo reikšminis kanonas, ypač turint omenyje, kad Aušros gadynė tarpukario Lietuvos kultūroje buvo tapusi svarbiausia, labiausiai akcentuojama kolektyvinės atminties vieta.
Mokyklinėse tarpukario literatūros programose Maironio kaip svarbiausio lietuvių literatūros klasiko pozicija išryškėjo tik 3-iojo dešimtmečio pabaigoje. Viena iš palyginti vėlyvos mokyklinės Maironio kanonizacijos priežasčių galėjo būti tai, kad pirmosiose (iki valstybingumo atkūrimo) publikuotose lietuvių literatūros istorijose (kuriomis, manytina, rėmėsi programų sudarytojai) Maironio kūrybai dėmesio neskirta. Skaityti privalomi Maironio kūriniai – eilėraščių rinkinys Pavasario balsai ir poema Jaunoji Lietuva – mokyklinėse literatūros programose imti minėti nuo 3-iojo dešimtmečio vidurio. Po 1936 m. švietimo reformos aukštesniųjų klasių mokiniams privalomų Maironio kūrinių sąrašą papildė poema Raseinių Magdė.
Pavasario balsų kanoninio statuso institucionalizavimas mokyklinėje programoje įtvirtina dar prieš Pirmąjį pasaulinį karą literatūros kritikoje įsteigtą Maironio kaip iškiliausio savo kartos lyriko vertinimą. Problemiškesnis atvejis – epinės poeto kūrybos įtraukimas į mokyklinį kanoną. Įvairius poemų kompozicinius, meninės raiškos trūkumus yra vardiję net ir svarbiausi Maironio kanonizuotojai – Juozas Tumas ir Adomas Jakštas, jau neminint itin neigiamų XX a. pradžios kairiosios ideologijos kritikų atsiliepimų. Ideologinę visuomeninę poemos vertę pabrėžiantis Jaunosios Lietuvos pristatymas vadovėliuose ir skaitinių knygose leidžia spėti, kad ji įtraukta į mokyklinę programą dėl amžininkų paliudyto šio kūrinio vaidmens XIX-XX a. sandūroje žadinant lietuvių tautinį sąmoningumą. Raseinių Magdės priskyrimą mokykliniam kanonui manytina lėmė 1936 m. švietimo reformos rengėjų nuostata plėsti ir gilinti tautinio atgimimo literatūros dėstymą mokykloje, taip pat po Maironio mirties (1932) išaugęs poeto kanonizacijos mastas.
Mokyklinio Maironio biografijos naratyvo semantinė ašis – lietuvybė, kiek mažiau akcentuojamos siužetinės linijos – kunigo ir poeto pašaukimas. Maironio kaip lietuvybės puoselėtojo vaizdinį kiek komplikuojantys biografiniai faktai (kad jam ruošiantis stoti į gimnaziją šeimoje su vaikais imta bendrauti išimtinai lenkiškai, kad pirmąsias eiles poetas sukūrė lenkų kalba) vadovėliuose nei skaitiniuose neminimi. Neužsimenama juose ir apie lenkakalbio XIX a. I pusės Vilniaus romantizmo poetinės mokyklos poveikį Maironio kūrybai.
Mokyklinis poeto biografijos pateikimas ir kūrybos vertinimas buvo nulemtas bendrųjų tarpukario lietuvių kultūros tendencijų. Aptariamu laikotarpiu centrine kolektyvinės atminties vieta buvo tapęs tautinis atgimimas, todėl ir iškiliausias to meto poetas, savo eilėmis reikšmingai prisidėjęs prie masių nacionalizavimo, mokiniams pirmiausia buvo pristatomas per visuomeninės jo kūrybos reikšmės prizmę.
1932 m. spaudoje detaliai perteiktos, vertintos ir komentuotos Maironio laidotuvių iškilmės, gausūs nekrologai bei po klasiko mirties surengtų Maironio septyniasdešimtmečio iškilmių scenarijus leidžia teigti, kad 4-ojo dešimtmečio pradžioje Maironis užėmė centrinę vietą nacionalinės literatūros kanone. Pats mirties faktas suteikė papildomą impulsą šio poeto kanonizacijai ir padėjo pagrindą patriotinio Maironio kulto formavimuisi. Siekiant atskleisti netekties mastą, Maironiui skirtuose nekrologuose poeto kūrybos reikšmė vertin- ta kone išimtinai visuomeninio, istorinio jos poveikio kriterijumi. Maironis aukštintas visų pirma kaip tautinio atgimimo pranašas, savo eilėmis prikėlęs lietuvius kovai už savo kalbą, kultūrą ir valstybingumą. Tautinio atgimimo epocha tarpukariu  buvo tapusi svarbiausia kolektyvinės atminties vieta, o atgimimo dainiumi praminto Maironio kūryba laikyta ne tik šios herojinės epochos liudytoja, jai priskirta bendruomenės išlikimui gyvybiškai svarbi jos mobilizavimo bei tautinės ir pilietinės tapatybės formavimo funkcija. Apeliuodami į ją L. Gira ir B. Brazdžionis ragino kurti Maironio kultą kaip priemonę, galinčią suaktyvinti po valstybingumo atkūrimo nusilpusį lietuvių patriotizmą.
Nė vienas kitas rašytojas Lietuvos respublikos laikotarpiu nesulaukė tiek daug valstybės dėmesio ir finansinių išteklių, kiek buvo skirta Maironio įamžinimui. Nepaisant to, A. Smetonos režimui oponavę kultūrininkai kritiškai vertino politinio elito pastangas įamžinti poeto atminimą. Kritikuotos tiek iškiliausiam tautiniam poetui esą per pigios mauzoliejaus statybinės medžiagos, tiek paties Maironio pasirinkta epitafija bei B. Bučo sukurtas velionio horeljefas. Pastarieji neatitiko Maironio kaip ryžtingo atgimimo pranašo vaizdinio, kuris imtas formuoti dar XX a. pradžios kritinėje recepcijoje, bet labiausiai įsigalėjo jau po poeto mirties.
Memorialinio Maironio muziejaus steigimas taip pat liudija, kad Maironis 4-ajame de- šimtmetyje buvo tapęs nacionalinės literatūros klasiku: visas jo palikimas, autentiška gyvenamoji aplinka buvo traktuojami kaip kultūrinė vertybė, kurią būtina išsaugoti ir perduoti ateities kartoms. Vėliau muziejuje ėmus kaupti ne tik Maironio, bet ir jo amžininkų rašytojų palikimą ir tokiu būdu pavertus jį lietuvių literatūros muziejumi, Maironio vardas tapo visos nacionalinės literatūros emblema.

Статья посвящена практике отбора и обработки произведений литературы, публиковавшихся в школьных хрестоматиях и книгах для чтения в XIX в. Нередко художественные тексты настолько трансформируются составителями хрестоматий, что перестают быть равными самим себе, приобретая новые смыслы и функции.
Фрагменты больших литературных произведений начинают восприниматься как отдельные, самостоятельные тексты. Таким образом в школьной практике появляются фактически не существующие в истории литературы произведения,
приписываемые известным авторам. Такого рода хрестоматийные тексты могут становиться популярнее, чем сами оригиналы, послужившие источником для них, что, в свою очередь, влияет на формирование школьного литературного канона.

BDA Allgemeine und vergleichende Literaturwissenschaft Roman AUFSATZSAMMLUNG 15-3 Große Romane der Weltliteratur : erfahren, woher wir kom-men / Hanjo Kesting.-Göttingen : Wallstein-Verlag.-22 cm.-Was Weltliteratur ist, wird immer in gewissem Maße strittig sein. Daß es aber eine solche zumindest ansatzweise und ohne feste Grenzen eines Ka-nons gibt, wird man auch schlecht abstreiten können. Das Konzept der Weltliteratur selbst ist vor allem in der Komparatistik immer wieder eifrig dis-kutiert worden, was aber nicht zuletzt mit Problemen der fachlich-diszi-plinären und theoretischen Profilierung und Differenzierung zu tun haben dürfte. Für den allgemein literarisch interessieren, "gebildeten" Leser aber hat die Aussage, ein literarisches Werk gehöre zu Weltliteratur, einen durchaus normativen Gehalt: Denn die Aussage impliziert, das entspre-chende Werk verdiene im besonderen Maße eine Lektüre-und so hat das Etikett Weltliteratur einen guten literaturpädagogischen bzw. literaturkriti-schen Sinn, wenn man andere Menschen dazu bringen möchte, bestimmte Werke zu lesen. In diesem Sinne ist die hier zu besprechende dreibändige Zusammenstellung von Essays des Literaturkritikers Hanjo Kesting sehr zu begrüßen. Sie knüpft im übrigen an Vortragsabende an, die der Verfasser gemeinsam mit Schauspielern, die Textpassagen aus den Romanen vortru-gen, in Hamburg, dann aber auch in Hannover, Lübeck und Bremen durch-führte, unterstützt von der ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius. This article tries to demonstrate the canonicity of Federico Garcia Lorca’s so called “rural trilogy”, composed of Bodas de sangre, Yerma and La casa de Bernarda Alba, not only at a european but also at a worldwide level. After the controversial debates about the canon that have taken place during the last twenty years and the attempts of its reorganization promoted by the american cultural studies, it seems that any writer traditionally considered canonical is under suspicion of having been placed in that position by the ruling classes. In this article we study how Lorca achieves his canonical status by his own merits thanks to the three dramatic pieces above mentioned.

Les productions culturelles ne sont pas neutres : elles se font le reflet des enjeux de pouvoirs contemporains, que ce soit en légitimant le système de valeurs dominant ou, au contraire, en le (re)mettant en question. Dès lors qu’on se penche sur la représentation des femmes dans l’Histoire de l’art en général et l’Histoire de la littérature en particulier, il apparaît bien vite que les femmes y sont sous-représentées. Pour cette réflexion, nous proposons une analyse de la construction de l’auctorialité féminine en littérature, avec quelques détours par l’Histoire de l’art. Nous nous attacherons à montrer quels enjeux genrés sous-tendent leurs accessions au champ et à l’expression artistiques, dans lesquelles l’étiquette – au sens de stigmate – « œuvre féminine » induit une réception prenant en compte le sexe de l’artiste.
Seront abordées les œuvres de : Simone de Beauvoir, Claude Cahun, Hélène Cixous, Laurent Daniel, Assia Djebar, Marguerite Duras, George Eliot, Annie Ernaux, Frida Kahlo, Mac Orlan, Alice Rivaz, George Sand, Renée Vivien et Marguerite Yourcenar.

Socialist realism as a canonical art The article focuses on the historiography of canon forms and the typology of canonical arts. The author argues that, being a canonical art, socialist realism absorbed all canonizing practices produced throughout the history of world arts and theoretical thinking. The paper demonstrates that the canon of socialist realism is in fact a literary practice with its own style standards and prohibitions; a literary theory aimed at establishing and substantiating of doctrines; and a historiographic model of literary process. The study proves that the socialist realist canon is characterized by self-canonization as a way of canon structuring under the colonization conditions, that is, when Russian literature is generally viewed as a canon for the other national literatures.

This article draws upon a reader-response and canonical-hermeneutical perspective in order to analyze the manner in which 2 Sam 22 and Ps 18 are embedded in their respective literary contexts. Psalm 18’s superscription functions both to guide the interpretation of the following psalm as well as evoke its “Doppelgänger” in 2 Sam 22 (and “behind” it the Song of Moses in Deut 32,1-43). It not only contains a prayer articulated in a situation of distress, as a song of thanksgiving it also retrospectively witnesses to divine acts of salvation that have an abiding validity. This analysis demonstrates that the intertextual reading of biblical texts as a significant moment of the “canon” is not a secondary imposition upon these texts from the outside.

Исследуются количественный и качественный статус и культурные функции современной литературы в 46 русских хрестоматиях 1843–1904 гг., предназначенных для гимназий и реальных училищ. Актуальность работы обусловлена устаревшим представлением о значении консервативных реформ Д. А. Толстого 1870–1880-х гг. («толстовского классицизма»). Используя генеалогический, институциональный и историко-функциональный методы изучения истории образования, автор исследует функцию и последствия как исключения современной литературы из школьной программы, так и ее присутствия в некоторых хрестоматиях. Феномен классикализации учебных планов после реформы 1871 г. и консервация программы по литературе оказываются не столь однозначными. Запрет на изучение литературы, созданной после 1842 г., и одновременно значительное расширение текстов древнерусской словесности парадоксальным образом привели к сакрализации русской классики и дискредитации многих программных текстов в глазах молодого поколения. В этой ситуации важную роль сыграли учебные хрестоматии – буферная зона между жестко ограниченной программой и современной литературой, какую не дозволялось обсуждать в классе. Количественный и качественный анализ содержания хрестоматий 1843–1904 гг. показал, что с 1860 к 1900 г. доля текстов авторов, опубликованных в течение 20–30 лет до выхода хрестоматии, повысилась с 4 до 35 %. Равным образом с 1861 г. существенно росло число новых пособий на образовательном рынке. Качественный анализ выявляет авторов и тексты, наиболее часто включавшиеся в хрестоматии 1860–1890-х гг. Многие фрагменты часто воспроизводимых произведений к началу 1900–х стали каноническими, заучивались наизусть и, хотя и не могли дать полного представления о целом тексте, выполняли важную культурную функцию, привлекая подростков к современным им текстам и авторам. Оказываясь своего рода буферной зоной между официальной программой, школьным историко-литературным нарративом и актуальным литературным процессом, хрестоматии внесли важный вклад в канонизацию современной литературы в русском обществе XIX в. даже вопреки министерскому запрету ее изучать.

Este trabajo pretende dar cuenta de la detección de un problema que como docentes de la literatura con algunos años de experiencia se nos ha planteado en clase, y de la medida que tomamos para solucionarlo, así como de los resultados que hemos obtenido con ella. El problema en cuestión tiene que ver con el canon y con la misma concepción de la “literatura” como un concepto cambiante, que evoluciona a lo largo del tiempo, y consecuentemente como un corpus no arbitrario, pero sí en transformación, a medio camino entre la fijación y la transformación.

Ce volume invite à réfléchir autant sur les anthologies de littérature mondiale que sur la place de la littérature africaine de langue française dans celles-ci. Par anthologie de littérature mondiale, nous entendons toutes sortes d’anthologie ayant la prétention de regrouper l’ensemble des textes issus du monde ou de la planète. On pourra par exemple être attentif à la mention des étiquettes (monde, autour du monde, monde entier, planète, planétaire, international, mondial, Tout-Monde, littérature-monde, etc.) dans les titres.

How can we relate the quantitative presence of literary artifacts to their ability to make a difference, and how does the problem of scale define public accounts of what can be considered relevant literary value? The idea of a singular space of reception (one literary "market-place," say, or one "public sphere") is unhelpful. Rather, literary artifacts have potentially multiple social lives that differ in their relation to "sacralized" and "everyday" practices. An aesthetic object can thrive in many simultaneous or successive practice spaces that use and value it differently and that embed it in differing sites of authority. Moving from the Romantic period to the present, this article looks at the trajectories of Walter Scott as an earlier and Toni Morrison as a recent candidate for culturally relevant authorship.

A study of the limits of multilingual literary expression in print culture. Beginning with the insight that multilingual literature defies simple translation, Brian Lennon examines the resistance multilingual literature offers to book publication. Looking closely at the limit of multilingual literary expression and the literary journalism, criticism, and scholarship that comments on multilingual work, In Babel’s Shadow presents a critical reflection on the fate of literature in a world gripped by the crisis of globalization.

THE CALL TO CURATE Although the word "curate" might evoke images of a museum's quest to preserve a distant past, today's content-saturated information landscape empowers teachers and students to become critical curators of their own curriculum. With an internet connection and a well-stocked library, teachers can transform their dusty literature anthology or required book list into a critically curated invitation to text-inspired conversations that explore multiple perspectives, challenge dominant ideologies, and include marginalized voices within and beyond the literary canon. To meet this challenge, educators need to examine the elements that contribute to robust, layered curation. In a young adult literature course, I teach pre-service teachers how to analyze, select, connect, and share resources that invite readers to read with and against canonical texts (Borsheim-Black, Macaluso, & Petrone, 2014). Four aspects of rich curation have emerged from this shared inquiry: developing thick conceptual frameworks, including counterstories and subjecting them to critical questioning, making multifaceted connections between texts, and taking an exploratory stance toward those texts. Teaching curation prepares pre-service teachers to read against the canon and own their own critical, inquiry-focused curriculum. COLLABORATIVE CURATION FOR CRITICAL LITERACY I frame this chapter around the concepts of curation, critical literacy, and conceptual learning. Together these frames facilitate the critical literacy necessary for teaching and learning in today's content-rich, participatory culture. These theoretical frames spring from both theory and from my experience as a secondary English language arts teacher and school librarian. I remember countless evenings spent lost on the internet as an early career ELA teacher, hunting for the perfect news article, poem, or short story for the next day's lesson. Later, my degree in library science and experience as a school librarian helped me hone my search skills, discover new resources, and conceptualize literacy and text selection as an interdisciplinary act of collaborative curation between teachers and students, both within individual disciplines like ELA and across disciplinary lines. Književnopovijesni radovi koji sumiraju dostignuća poljske poezije u posljednjem stoljeću u nedovoljnom stupnju opisuju sudjelovanje žena u književnoj komunikaciji. Posebice pjesnikinje – na koje se fokusira ovaj članak – obično su situirane na rubovima skupina, generacija i glavnih pjesničkih tokova, a njihovo se stvaralaštvo ne da upisati u sheme i tradicionalne podjele povijesti književnosti. U kontekstu ženskog pjesništva često se pokreće retorika posebnosti i nepripadnosti te se gradi posebna kategorija „ženske lirike”, što je najčešće povezano s procesom podređivanja književnosti žena. Ta se situacija dinamično mijenja u posljednja tri desetljeća s pojavljivanjem grupe (i programski) aktivnih pjesnikinja, kao i s razvojem feminističke kritike. Posljedica višeg vrjednovanja prisutnosti žena u književnosti je demontaža obvezujućih, muškocentričnih kanona, što će u konačnici dovesti do drukčijeg profiliranja slike povijesti poljske poezije dvadesetog i dvadeset prvog stoljeća.

Publicado na Revista Brasileira de Literatura Comparada, este ensaio se insere no debate contemporâneo sobre valor estético, argumentando que culturalistas, revisores do cânone, e esteticistas, defensores da primazia do cânone ocidental, compartilham uma série de pressupostos. A partir de uma compreensão do caráter contingente do valor literário e da impossibilidade de fundamentá-lo de maneira imanente à obra,  sugerem-se algumas pautas para o debate, baseadas na descontinuidade, frequentemente ignorada,  entre os conceitos de valor, de estética e de cânone.

Dentro de los muchos comentarios sobre literatura en Cervantes, este trabajo examina la presencia y función de una pequeña serie de apariciones del libro como objeto material, para tratar de explicar diversas cuestiones de canon, configuración autorial y géneros en torno a tres personajes (Garcilaso, Avellaneda y Cervantes). / Among Cervantes' frequent commentaries on literature, this paper examines the presence and function of a number of selected mentions of the book as a material object, in order to highlight different notions of canon, authorial configuration and genres focusing on three characters (Garcilaso, Avellaneda, and Cervantes). Tiene toda la pinta de que el título, robado descaradamente del western de Sergio Leone (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, 1966), solo pretende ser una captatio jocoseria que no guarda ninguna relación con Cervantes. Sin embargo, la triple etiqueta viene al pelo para poner orden y concierto en unas reflexiones sobre los libros cervantinos, que conectan con cuestiones de canon, configuración autorial, géneros y prise de position en el campo literario. Article "Canon"

Initially a simple rod and ruler in the carpenter's toolbox (in Sumerian, Hebrew and ancient Greek), the canon gradually became the Western standard of identity internalized by number, whether as the characteristic measurement of the sexual body to be embodied, of the "great" man to imitate, or of the masterpiece representative of a "civilization" and a "culture" (the humanities), before appearing as the ideological instrument of the pedagogical power, whether patriarchal, ethnocentric, social or national.

El artículo plantea una serie de discusiones sobre las reglas que han actuado en la conformación del canon de la literatura argentina de la segunda mitad del siglo veinte. Para eso, propone un recorrido por un pequeño corpus compuesto por Villa miseria también es América de Bernardo Verbitsky, Larvas de Elías Castelnouvo, "Como un león" de Haroldo Conti, "El niño proletario" de Osvaldo Lamborghini y La tumbas de Enrique Medina. Este conjunto de títulos no pretende tener un carácter meramente aditivo, de revisión, ampliación o actualización, sino mostrar el reverso de la tradición, a partir de la lectura de textos que han quedado en sus márgenes. Nuestra hipótesis es que en los bordes del canon o sus zonas "residuales" se puede leer la tradición nacional de otra manera, en toda su extensión, no como sinónimo de "influencias", textos "representativos" o "lista de obras importantes", sino por los protocolos y operaciones que marcan condiciones de legibilidad e ilegibilidad y fijan las reglas y límites de la literatura, manifestando polémicas que traspasan los muros de la institución. Por lo tanto, cuando se leen los restos, lo que "no entró" o se dejó de lado, se produce una divergencia o superposición de espacios y temporalidades que permite indicar la huella de lo que fue borrado o "tachado" por las lecturas dominantes en un momento histórico determinado y los efectos de sus proyecciones hasta el presente.

The article reconstructs the history of the creation of Russia's literary canon in the second half of the nineteenth century, and more specifically – the phenomenon of Russian classic literature as codified in the high school curriculum of the time. The fact that teaching Russian literature was not abandoned in schools in the 1870s and that the writings published before about 1842 had acquired the status of "classics" owed to a very specific political constellation. The author argues that the turn toward classicism in education in the early 1870s by the newly appointed minister of public education, Dmitry Tolstoy, reflected the regime's determination to embrace and promote Russian nationalism while curtailing its democratic potential. This both opened up an opportunity for Russian literature to be included in the school curriculum and mandated the format of this inclusion as rigid lists of compulsory reading.

Artykuł omawia metodykę lektury szkolnej w perspektywie dominującej „lektury detali”, która akcentuje przyswojenie określonej strategii interpretacyjnej, przygotowującej do sytuacji egzaminacyjnej. Autor postuluje dwa nowe sposoby działania: lekturę emocji i lekturę emocjami. Polegają one na przesunięciu ciężaru z rozmowy o nieistotnych szczegółach na badanie emocji, wynikających z czytania.
Taka dyskusja może być kluczem do twórczej dyskusji o dziele oraz wstępem do edukowania dla piękna.

Co-authored with Kim Pinkerton and Pernille Ripp, The Students’ Right to Read provides resources that can be used to help discuss and ensure students’ free access to all texts. The genesis of the Students’ Right to Read was an original Council statement, “Request for Reconsideration of a Work,” prepared by the Committee on the Right to Read of the National Council of Teachers of English and revised by Ken Donelson. The current Students’ Right to Read statement represents an updated second edition that builds on the work of Council members dedicated to ensuring students the freedom to choose to read any text and opposing “efforts of individuals or groups to limit the freedom of choice of others.” Supported through references from text challenges and links to resources, this statement discusses the history and dangers of text censorship which highlight the breadth and significance of the Students’ Right to Read. The statement then culminates in processes that can be followed with different stakeholders when students’ reading rights are infringed.

In the last few decades literary education has been going through a period of crisis due to young people moving away from the traditional literary form (that is, written and printed), the development of more and more innovative technologies and the use of teaching methods that aren't always able to motivate students, who live in a more and more multimedia world. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce some innovative changes in literary education that will firstly consider students' needs, interests and competences. In order to reach our goal we should consider two possibilities: the widening of the literary canon, introducing innovative literary forms, and the openness of literary education to new means through which it can be transmitted (such as the net). With regard to this, song are a potential authentic resource that can build a metaphorical 'bridge' between literary education and youth culture in order to promote literary and linguistic acquisition, high motivation and the development of students' critical sensibility.

Religious communities have been responsible for the present order of the biblical books, but we must ask whether historical and theological priority should be given to any one canonical structure over another, most specifically when doing biblical theology. Is the order of the canon significant when considering how the whole Bible progresses, integrates, and climaxes in Jesus? A number of factors move me to answer with a qualified “Yes,” and my response comes in three stages. First, the study overviews the nature and limits of the biblical canon. Second, it assesses how much ancient canon consciousness included not simply which books but also their ordering. Third, it considers ways that canonical arrangement could and should inform a Christian’s interpretive conclusions in relation to biblical theology.

The  second  half  of  the  nineteenth  century  is  of  crucial importance  in  Slovene  history,  as  during  this  time,  a  sense  of national  consciousness  began  to  be  disseminated,  literacy increased significantly, and different Slovene vernaculars were developed  into  a  modern,  supra-regional,  standardized,  and codified    Slovene    language.    These    developments    were intertwined and enabled by general processes of modernization within the Habsburg Monarchy, under which the Slovenes had lived for centuries alongside speakers of other languages. At the same time, spurred on by the ideas of the liberal Revolution of 1848, a modern school system was first established within the monarchy.  The  demand  for  modern  schoolbooks  to  be  used within this system was a considerable challenge, especially for Slavic  languages  like  Slovene,  which  were  not  yet  fully developed.  This  task  proved  to  be  impossible  without  relying heavily    on    translations,    and,    starting    in    1848,    modern schoolbook  production  soon  led  to  an  increase  in  translation activity.  This  paper  examines  the  historical  circumstances surrounding the creation of Slovene schoolbooks between 1848 and  1918,  the  main  agents  in  the  field,  the  volume and  the characteristics  of  translations  included  in  schoolbooks,  if  and when they were marked as translations, translation strategies, and ideological steering  through translations. It  also  examines the issues of whether and how the state, through the Ministry of Education,  controlled  or  guided  these  translations activities while also controlling content within schoolbook production in
general.

Во македонската книжевна критика и воопшто во современата македонска книжевност значајно место зазема Венко Андоновски – писател, поет, есеист, драмски автор, публицист и универзитетски професор. Овој труд претставува осврт кон книжевно-критичката и книжевно-теориската мисла што Андоновски ја презентира во книгата „Дешифрирања (литературни студии)“. Прво се презентираат општи податоци за творештвото на Андоновски, а потоа се елаборираат суштинските специфики на текстовите што се дел од оваа книга. Во заклучокот од овој труд се нагласува дека во книгата „Дешифрирања (литературни студии)“ се елаборираат суштински прашања од повеќе спознајни дисциплини како што се книжевната теорија со нејзините базни поддисциплини (наратологија, драматургија, теорија на поезијата), книжевната историја, книжевната критика, семиологијата и филозофијата.

Constructed by Western discourse as part of the same absence/ non-significance area with which ‘the centre’ seems to associate ‘the margin’, Romanian literature (including writers and writings regarded as ‘canonical’ by the local school of criticism) has yet to find a way to decentre or dispute the dominant hegemony of the established Western canon. A case in point is exposed by Julian Barnes, in ‘One of a Kind’ (1982/1987). The accuracy of the detail in this short story reveals a narrator keenly acquainted with the realities of Romania and its culture during the communist era. Apparently objective and realist, the text artfully conceals the metafictional subversion of established truths and values, and sheds some light on a political context hindering the development of culture, which was virtually unknown to the English readership in the 1980s. This paper aims at discussing the strategies employed in this game of appearances, whose scaffolding shows the oppositions between subjectivity and objectivity, but also between Englishness and Romanianness.
