tif) The Baptism of the Lord With His baptism in the Jordan, Jesus begins his public ministry proclaiming the kingdom of God with the knowledge that He is the beloved son of God the Father. In this Year of Faith, we proclaim the kingdom of God when we live with the hope and confidence of knowing we are loved deeply as Gods daughters and sons and tell others why we hope. Living Faith in January: Luke 3:15-16, 21-22 The Lord will bless his people with his peace. (Ps 29) How do you direct the love of God to another person? How does the Baptism of the Lord make you think about your own baptism and what it means to be a member of the people of God or the Body of Christ? How do you work in the service of others?

320 Holy Hours were kept before the Blessed Sacrament this past week. Could you not watch one hour with me? The only time our Lord asked the Apostles for anything was the night when He went into His agony. But as often in the history of the church since that time, evil was awake, but the disciples were asleep. That is why there came out of His anguished and lonely Heart a sigh: Could you not watch one hour with Me? (Mt. 26:40) Not for an hour of activity did He plead, but for an hour of friendship (Archbishop Fulton J. JANUARY 27 PARISH DINNER: Homemade lasagna, salad, bread, dessert and beverages will be served at our Parish Dinner from 11:30-1:30 in the school cafeteria. Adult tickets are $5.00 each, children 5-10 are $3.00, children under five are free. Pre-registration is requested but not required. Tickets will be on sale next weekend after all Masses. If you would like to volunteer to help in the kitchen or with setup on the 26th or on Sunday, please call Karen (330-745-0011). Thank you and hope to share this delicious meal with you on the 27th! THIRD ANNUAL PRAYER FOR THE UNBORN: Please join us in the church on Tuesday, January 22 following the 5:15 Mass (approximately 6:15) for this time of prayer in reparation for sins committed against the unborn through abortion and for the restoration of the legal guarantee to the right to life. St. Augustine Church is proud to offer the Funeral Luncheon Program to families that have lost a loved one. During the stressful time of planning a funeral, our Parish comes together to make a wonderful meal for the family. We would like to thank all the volunteers that make this possible; those that organize, set-up, take-down and prepare covered dishes, without you this would not be possible. With that being said, we are looking for additional dependable people to prepare a covered dish on a rotating basis or possibly head a team to set-up, serve and clean up afterward. (Insert Graphic 1409-0033.tif) For the next two weeks St. Augustine Culture of Life will be joining with Right to Life of Northeast Ohio and dozens of area churches in the annual Signature Media Campaign. Volunteers will be in the back of the church accepting signatures and donations for the unborn in a protest against legalized abortion. Your signature will be on a petition for life which will be sent to our legislators, and your donations will support pro-life multi-media education. If you prefer, envelopes are available in the pews for you to fill out and include your donation rather than signing the petition forms. The Divorced, Separated and Widowed Catholics of Akron is sponsoring a talk on "Protect Memory Prevent Dementia and Alzheimer." Dr. Kelly Gallagher of Advanced Chiropractic and Wellness Center will be speaking. "Yea, Lord we Greet Thee..." What a wonderful Christmas season our Parish has had. After four weeks of preparing for the birth of our Lord, we have seen our church transformed. To everyone who helped in any of the Christmas celebrations, thank you. So much work is put into making St. Augustine a beautiful and wonderful place to worship during the Christmas season. We want to especially thank: those who clean our church weekly, helped decorate the altar and church for Christmas, and those involved in Liturgical Ministries, whether through song, lectoring, ushering, or being a Eucharistic Minister. The celebrations would never have been as beautiful as they were without you our many volunteers. Thank you and many Blessings! Why a Holy Hour?
