Learner-Centered Instruction
To create a learner-centered community, the teacher collaboratively identifies needs and plans, implements, and assesses instruction using technology and other resources. Contents of Division and Courses Reflected EDCI 5320 Action Research: Student Achievement in Science EDCI 5320 Science Rodger Bybee: Curriculum Leader EDCI 5360 5-E Science Probes Professional Titan Science EDCI 5710 Educational Measurement Assignment Goal for Division My goal for this division is to demonstrate my understanding of student success when instruction is delivered in multiple ways to help students retain more information. From my artifacts, I hope to demonstrate how I use instruction to meet all the needs of my students in a way that allows them to be successful at their own level. An additional goal is to show the many ways in which I hold students accountable though varies assessments. Rationale for Inclusion of Work Samples The artifacts I have included in the learner-centered instruction will show my knowledge of curriculum and content standards as well as my knowledge of and practical application of various forms of assessment of student learning. From my artifacts, evidence of lesson planning, including daily and unit lessons and scope and sequence as well as my style of effective classroom management is displayed through the artifacts. With all included artifacts, evidence on student learning is present. Reflection of Personal/Professional Growth in Division Area After completing the activities listed above, I feel I have grown as a teacher and can effectively plan, develop, and deliver learner-centered instruction. I understand more about the way student learn and how they should be taught. I have also learned a more efficient and effective way to assess student properly. By learning about and utilizing teaching strategies for student with disabilities as well as students who are English language learners, I have become more confident in my teaching as well as my ability to create lessons and assessments that maximize student learning.
