“this episode put a definitive end to buddie” “this episode confirmed that buddie is happening” guys. can we be serious for a second. there’s a reason why both sides feel like we’re eating well after that episode and it’s that tim is playing it right down the middle

buck and tommy fucked. it was in eddie’s house. it was the first time buck could spend the night there. he admitted that he used tommy as a distraction. he was genuinely happy to see that tommy was still there in the morning

they both wanted to get back together. tommy thought that buck had feelings for eddie. in response, buck got angry, but he also said he doesn’t have to sleep with someone to have feelings for them

buck said straight up that he isn’t in love with eddie. maddie didn’t believe him. buck said straight up that he isn’t pining for his best friend. he spent the entire episode talking about how much he misses eddie. he has spent the last four months pining over tommy

he wanted to call tommy. he will call eddie. he hasn’t spoken to either of them since they walked away from him because it’s too painful

like. all of this is in this episode. all of it. not half of it: all of it. the interviews skew more towards shutting down the idea of buddie happening, but there’s still a lot of intentional ambiguity and “who knows what tim will do/this is buck’s truth as he sees it right now/we did what we did and it’s up to the fans to take it how they will.” to say any of that is definitive is just incorrect

please. both sides are being fed and both sides are being played. while I personally believe that they are setting up buck and tommy to get back together, maybe permanently, that doesn’t mean that the buddie stuff isn’t there, or that it’s so crystal clear in the episode that they ONLY wanted to shut it down (why have maddie react that way if they did? why leave room for even a single seed of doubt?)

I am begging both sides to stop acting like the other side is crazy or “bad at media literacy” for seeing what they’re seeing. it’s all there, and it was put there intentionally so that both sides would keep watching and talking about this show

YES!!!! Finally someone else is seeing what I’ve been saying all along, thank you OP and you put it into words so much better than I could.

The thing that impressed me the most with this episode was how fucking WELL the writers did feeding both sides of the ship war. They played the most beautiful balancing act I’ve seen for a long time and as a lowly fic writer I DREAM of being able to write that well.

That alone makes me exited to see how it’s all going to play out. l’m more glad than ever that I multi-ship so I can just sit back and enjoy watching what happens next.

I’m a little late to this party but YESSS!! All of this! I’ve been struggling to articulate how weird it’s been to see Buddie and BuckTommy exclusive shippers simultaneously celebrating the other’s death when it feels pretty damn clear to me from the actual show that they are keeping the door open for multiple possibilities.

I also fully agree that it’s pretty brilliant writing to have such opposite groups of fans BOTH feel extremely happy with the outcome of 8x11.

It’s natural to speculate. It’s natural to have preferences. It’s natural to use the source material to make the case for your preferences. But what’s so bizarre to me is the insistence (from both sides!) that the show is extremely clear on what is endgame and they have all the right media literacy to accurately predict what’s going to happen.

We do. Not. Know. Anything could happen. They could “kill” Buddie this season and put Buck with Tommy. And we could get 10 more seasons of this show to play with where the pendulum swings back to Buddie. Or vice versa. Or NEITHER. We don’t know!

The fact that all shippers were happy by 8x11 should clearly show the fence these writers are riding. And I for one am very happy about the teasing of possibilities! I don’t want to watch something where we know how it’s all gonna end from now. I want to enjoy the journey and twists along the way.

Remember on Buck and Tommy’s first date when Buck was so nervous that Tommy said “Well, then I guess it’s just me that makes you nervous.”

And Buck blushed and gulped.

I feel like he had never been properly courted until he met Tommy.

Because Tommy is a gentleman through and through, and Buck must have loved being cared for by someone for the first time.

I don’t know all the details of all his previous relationships, but I do remember Abby using him to make herself feel better, and I’ve seen summaries of his other relationships and they don’t seem like they cared for him as much as Tommy does.

Maybe that’s why he took the breakup so hard, besides the obvious heartbreak. He had finally found someone who treated him like a priority, who liked all his weird traits with some boundaries in place.

And then Tommy ended things when Buck was ready to move to next stage.

They complement each other well, and Tommy can keep up with him in the bedroom easily. Tommy got fucked six ways to Sunday, and still got up early to go buy groceries and cook them up for Buck while Buck slept in. This was even after their breakup.

I wonder if it’s part of Tommy’s aftercare routine. Of course Buck fell hard for Tommy (hard literally and figuratively 😈).

Who wouldn’t love to fuck for hours then get fed afterwards?

I hope Buck and people in real life know that this is where your standards should be when it comes to dating. Partners take care of each other and show affection. You always deserve to have someone who makes you happy, whether platonic or romantic. You all deserve the best.
