okay so I just saw a post defending the investment line because ‘well in Kerch culture—’ and this defense in particular grinds my gears so I’m going to rant about it.

first of all, Kaz has never been shown to give a fuck about Kerch culture, he’s atheist for starters which automatically discounts him from participating in a lot of traditions. Every single time he engages anything that marks him as Kerch man it’s almost always bravado. Why in this one instance would suddenly decided to engage in his culture? second of all, because people who say this generally love to say that the investment line was a shitty way of Kaz to express romantic feelings (which it wasn’t romantic but I’ll get into a second) why does he never say anything even remotely close to the investment line when actually expressing feelings towards Inej? If genuinely meant that line in a romantic context, he would’ve said similar things in his love confessions towards Inej. Third of all, this line wasn’t fucking intended to be romantic. From Kaz or the book itself. Kaz will still barely admit his feelings towards Inej to well into almost the end of the book and when he does he does everything in his power to make her feel not like an investment. So either Kaz was unaware of his feelings at the moment and was saying what he believed to be the truth or he was realizing his feelings and was denying them through that line. Ethier way, he was still a seventeen year old boy with his best friend bleeding out in his arms, so I sincerely doubt flirting was at all on his mind.

also one final point: WHY would you want Kaz to mean this romantically? Why would you want Kaz to think a way to flirt with a girl who was sold into sexual slavery was to objectify her? Do you realize how insane that is? Personally, I find denial in whatever form much more forgivable than Kaz being someone who thinks calling a sex trafficking victim an ‘investment’ is a way to flirt.

(I want it to be abundantly clear, Kaz calling her an investment is fucked up either way, just because I find denial more palatable does not make it okay.)

Kaz was NOT flirting. But we romanticize it becz ig it was his denial period. And it was prolly just him convincing himself that she's nothing more than just an investment. Kaz would never objectify her. Kaz hated slavery. He definitely wasn't the biggest fan of rapists.

For my name it was a nickname I was giving back in middleschool! One of our teacher had a system where we worked with 'wifi' eachtime we talked in class we lost a bar of the "wifi" (was a weird joke and we never held count on that) All the kids usually joked if they needed 'wifi' , they would borrow mine if they wanted to talk more. (I was incredibly shy in middle school, I only talked to like 3 people at school;^;)

They called me Ms. Wifi because of that. I just thought it would be funny if I put 'miss' instead of 'ms' because of my terrible actual wifi connection I have at home lol.

I've always loved the name Jane. It's not only simple but pretty, could conceivably be used in any time period which..... definitely doesn't mean I'm a time traveler..... and I love the way it sounds when I say it out loud. It's also the name of some of my favorite characters in literature whose traits I try to emulate, such as Jane Penderwick, Jane Bennett, and of course, Jane Austen. So I chose that name and paired it with the end of a title of a book I'd seen-- but also just something that's generally true about me.

Because usually, in some way, I am not fine.

So right before lockdown hit this friend of mine introduced me to the Hardy Boys series. (Later he became my boy bsf and then later he ghosted me and ignored me bla bla bla, now we are on talking terms lmao).

During the Lockdowns he also introduced me to scratch.

All kinds of usernames that I tried were alr taken up so I came with this OG from the Hardy Boys Undercover Brothers series. They were both undercover agents for ATAC (American Teens Against Crimes) (BTW, I am Indian-)

Anyways, the name stuck and then it kinda became my signature pen name lmao.

I even used it in my insta username.
