Hello! My name is Nanda and I’m writer and translator of fanfiction and original fiction. My preferred genres are Fantasy and Urban Fantasy/Magical Realism. I mainly write short stories, but plan on publishing my own books someday.

I've created this blog to have a space dedicated only to writing, so I can centralise my fanfics, start sharing my original writing and OCs on Tumblr, gather writing tips and also interact with Writeblr better. However, this is a sideblog, so any follows will come through my main @nandalikesstuff.

What is... a rarepair?

Rarepair refers to a rare pairing inside a fandom. This means that a pairing that someone ships does not have a lot of fanart or fanfiction about them or anything at all.

While crackships are always rarepairs, these rare pairings can make a lot of sense in canon, but they are just not that popular. But they often also refer to shipping characters that do not interact in canon at all, maybe not even know each other in the source material.

There are no exact numbers on when a pairing is considered a rarepair but some characteristics are that the tag on AO3 does not have a lot of hits and that most of the entries were written by the same person.

Shipping a rarepair can be frustrating, when you feel like you are alone in your love for a pairing, but it can also be fun to be able to shape the pairing together with two, three other shippers however you want them, because you basically own the ship by solely contributing to it.

Last Line Tag Game!

I'm stealing this from @hauntedcoyote. I'm currently working on a fill for today's Flash Fiction Friday prompt, and the last line I wrote for it was:

ou I actually have something for this

He might have been easy on the eyes, had it not been for the distinctive scar over his right eye. He made no attempt to hide it, almost like he had no idea it was even there. A show of bravado, to be sure. His shoulder length hair was parted to show it off, but he otherwise took great pains to appear inoffensive. His low voice was gentle, and his smile was only slight, careful to conceal the sharp fangs underneath. Even as he looked down on the man he shackled to the dank and musty walls of a dungeon foreign even to himself, walking around like he had the most right to be there out of anyone, he was wearing elaborately embroidered white clothes. Insufferable prick.

Decided recently to give voice acting a shot. Tested it with a cute little Cordelia/James/Matthew fic by @nandawrites

Sometimes, Cordelia still couldn't believe this was really her life. That she could be sitting in the couch of her home, running her fingers slowly through James' hair with one hand and Matthew's hair with the other, as they both lay on opposite sides of her lap.

A/N: First time I managed to align time and energy to participate in the @flashfictionfridayofficial challenge and I hope I get to keep participating from now on!

Context for this piece: Heinrich got nearly fully decapitated on a battle, but Lucien would not let him die and nursed him and fed him his own blood to get him back to "health". Thankfully Lucien is basically god on Earth so it worked, to the abject horror of everyone else (specially Lexi).

That random encounter on the hallway to the king's chambers was fortuitous. Heinrich had been looking for a fight.

He watched Alexandra's face change from shock to disgust to a murderous rage.

"What are you, a damn cockroach?"

Heinrich sneered back at her. He had always thought his resilience was his best quality. No matter how many times his father beat him or how many days his mother starved him, he had always come back stronger and more filled with hate on the other side.

His strength had gotten him through a war and even an encounter with a vampire that had killed every single one of his comrades but himself. And now, it seemed that not even having his head practically ripped out from his torso could keep him down for long.

The moonlight reflected both off the new spidery scar around his neck and his fangs when he taunted her:

"Aww, did you miss me?"

Barely had her gotten her claws out, he had her pinned to the wall by the neck with only one had. This new strength he had been feeling under his skin ever since he had woken back up really was something else.

He smirked, and let her take in the new golden hue in his eyes - the same colour as Lucien's.

"Turns out your god won't let me die. He would pour all his blood down my throat before he let that happen. And we will both have to live with that."

He squeezed her throat until he heard the sweet sound of her gasp, then threw her aside on the floor like a rag doll.

Alive, unfortunately. Licien would not forgive him if he killed his dear "sister".

It was not enough. It was barely even entertaining. He needed more if he were to test his new strength.

If not even death could keep him, their enemies were about to experience a whole new level of hell.

if you only want to write smutty drabbles, write smutty drabbles. if you don't want to write smut at all, don't write smut. if you want to write tropes that have been written 85838593929 times, write them. if you've already written a specific trope and want to write it again, do it. if you want to write for a character but feel like there's no demand for that character, do it anyway. don't feel pressured to reach a certain word count, don't feel pressured to stick to a posting schedule. you're literally doing this for FREE, in your free time. whatever YOU want your writing/fanfiction experience to be is valid - it doesn't have to be like everyone else's, and you don't have to cater to what you think people want 🫶🏻
