I left Massachusetts 18 years ago next month and I’m weirdly nostalgic for it. I caught Bill Burr on Conan O’Brien’s podcast (how’s that for representing MA?).

Anyway, this was enjoyable all the way through.

I started making a list of things that bothered me about The Visit, but I seriously need to lighten the hell up. There were some cool moments and god knows I never get tired of this type of “The calls are coming from inside the house!” twist.

So yeah, there are some annoying parts and characters, but at about 90 minutes, the least I can do is relax and enjoy a fun story that kind of plays like an urban legend.

This has everything I want in a Halloween movie. I love everywhere it went and I love the route it took to get there.

I’ve been avoiding reviews and everything, so when I left the theatre, I was looking forward to checking Letterboxd to see how much everyone else loved it too. How foolish am I?

I was also excited when I left Halloween 6 as a 16 year old. Of course, then I had to wait a few months…

The only thing that the movies in this series can seem to agree on is that the original incident occurred on August 18, 1973. For as long as I’ve loved this movie, I don’t think I’ve ever watched it on this date.

Anyway, it’s still probably the most perfect example of a horror movie that I can think of. There aren’t many movies that still give me the same feeling they did when I first saw them as a young person.…
