A 28 y/o Gravida Para 3 (3003) sought consult for family planning. She delivered 3 weeks ago and
asked if breastfeeding can be a form of family planning.
Questions:
1. What will be your response regarding her query on breastfeeding as a form of family planning?

2. Explain the mechanism behind LAM.

The above case came back to you for follow-up after a year and she is now on combined oral
contraceptive pills. She asked you several questions.

Please provide answers on the following questions:


3. Will I ovulate if I’m on OCP? Explain your answer.
4. Will I menstruate if I’m on OCP? Explain your answer.

Case 2:
A 20 y/o taking OCPs for contraception and a 30 y/o primigravid at 20 weeks of gestation.
Question:
1. Describe the ovarian development in their ovaries.
Case 3:
A 43 y/o woman who recently got married asked you this question: Can she still get pregnant?
Her menstruation is still regular but the duration and amount has already significantly
decreased.
Questions:
1. To determine if she still has ovarian follicles capable of becoming dominant, what 2
blood determinations should you request?

2. What are the expected results if her follicles are already depleted?

Case 4:
A 33 y/o woman is seeking consult for infertility. Work-up showed that she has PCOS. In PCOS, the
hypothalamus is secreting GnRH in high frequency.
Question:
1. Trace the events on how can this lead to anovulation and if not treated, endometrial CA.
