The pedagogy Wheel Model

With Allan Carrington’s Pedagogy Wheel Model, teachers have an at-hand

reference that ties apps to specific learning outcomes directly connected to modern pedagogies
and theories. They can easily sit with the wheel during lesson planning to find tools that will best
and their students or use them during class time to extend or deepen learning towards a specific
21st century skill or content area. This connection of theory, practice and application make the
Pedagogy Wheel an invaluable resource that should be on the wall of every classroom.

Google Meet The Google Meet app contains a lot of features that are ideal for the
teaching and learning process. Teachers can utilize this platform
when they plan to conduct synchronous class by simply creating or
scheduling a meeting, then sending the link to the students through
Gmail or messenger so they can be able to join. Teachers then can
present lessons using this platform and students can actively engage
themselves in the learning process. It also allows students and
teachers to see each other, which I think is one of the important
factors that makes learning more fun and satisfying for both of
them.

Zoom Zoom also has features similar to Google Meet. In fact, they are one
of the most widely used apps in teaching and learning because they
are convenient to use. It is very useful in the sense that teachers
utilize this platform to deliver their lessons effectively and
efficiently. In terms of learning, there's a feature on this that lets
students engage in the class discussion wherein whenever they want
to recite, ask questions or share their ideas with regards to the
lesson, they can raise their hand. They can also use the chat box to
interact with each other. The Zoom app is indeed useful for both
teachers and students, as it allows them to connect, learn, and grow.

Messenger Now a day’s messenger is the best app for the teacher and the
student. It allows them to communicate among themselves,
facilitates social interactions, create dialogue and encourages
sharing of learning materials. This is time-saving because materials
are sent through a message instead of being distributed individually
by the teacher. Students can be re-grouped easily; if a text proves
too hard for a student, they can easily be allocated another one, or if
a student arrives late, they can be easily given a text.

Moodle Moodle’s messaging system allows learners and teachers to

communicate easily. Teachers can also communicate with group of
learners via course forums either to provide answers to learner’s
questions or to just get involved in discussion.

Moodle is a platform for online learning that enables you to create

online courses, add assignments, and keep an eye on your students.
Examination is also given using Moodle.

Google Classroom The platform integrates with Google’s other tools like docs, drive
forms, meet and calendars, so there are many built-in “shortcuts”
for classroom-management tasks. For example, if you post an
assignment with a due date, it’s automatically added to your
students’ class calendar for them to see.

Teachers also can post an assignment to multiple classes or modify

and reuse assignments from year to year. If your students have
regular access to devices, google classroom can help you avoid
some trips to the photocopier and cut down on some of the paper
shuffling that comes with teaching and learning.

How does this connect with what you know about selecting and using apps?

In online platform it is essential to have a reliable app to use and to of course it is easy to
manipulate. For me it does connect to what I have known about selecting and using apps.
They are in need to know, as a future educator I presumed that all this application I know
is that I could handle it all. But the problem is that we are not only referring to us
educators but also to our students if they can access or they can use it that is why I choose
the app that is usable and easy to handle.

After you participated or assisted in the use of apps in teaching-learning, describe what
you observed and experienced by answering the items below

1. Describe how you or the teacher utilized the apps. Narrate your experience as you
participated and assisted.
We utilized the app by helping each other. Guiding one another in order to use the
app successfully. We also searched on the internet on how to manipulate it. But as
you open the app, there are procedures or command that easily understood by the
user. My experience as I participated and assisted is glad at heart and interesting.
We use Google Meet as teaching-learning app. We experienced failure because
one of the classes I attended, the teacher panickily searching what is wrong
because it echoing and disgusting to the ears. Secondly how she could present her
PowerPoint presentation that is why she assigned my co-FS student to present.
Lastly, internet connection plays a vital role in this kind of scenario. Sometimes
the teacher/resource teacher cannot deliver smoothly the lesson because it is cut
and the class disturbs because students keep on bothering why the teacher stops
discussing.
The main point here is, in order to see the app successfully, there must be
knowledge on how to use it, guidance by those who know it. Looking for a strong
internet connection for the succession of delivering the lessons.

1. What worked well during the activity using the app?

An app is a type of software that allows you to perform specific tasks or activities.
Using an app is a way to promote interest in topics and activities that students
might otherwise disregard. Teachers have chosen to use Google Meet as online
classroom tool in every virtual meeting, to share and deliver topics to their
students. This app is very appropriate to use in delivering your lessons because it
works in any device, you can control and adjust the camera and microphone
before entering in a meeting and based on my experience, it doesn’t consume big
data. Upon using this app, the video and audio still are of high quality even on
low bandwidth. Also, you can be able to see more students at the same time
through adjusting its layout into multiple.

2. What part can be improved?

Google meet application is the most commonly used online learning application
by our resource teachers to be able to meet their students. One thing that I have
observed where there is a need of improvement is when I’m the one who
presented the PowerPoint presentation because my resource teacher does not
know how to use the share screen button. After that I taught her the procedure of
it and told her that she can also present the PowerPoint using a mobile device
when she can’t bring her laptop in school. If there is a part that can be improved,
it will be on the instruction of the application. There should be a demo that is also
installed in the application before using it so that everyone would be aware on its
usage.

3. What would you have done differently? What would I change? What will make it
better next time?
I would still have done the same, the usage of the application is very easy and
optimal for academic related activities, as such, students find the online platform
used in conducting the activity interesting and educational friendly. The only

thing I would probably change for now is how the activities are given to the
students through the online platform, I will give emphasis to different factors
affecting students in using the applications/online platforms. And with that reason
the flow of the activities as well as the discussion will become better in terms of
the order and usability.

4. How does this connect with what you know about selecting and using apps?
Before learning this episode, our ideas about apps for online class is limited. We
realized that we only know how to use the app as a student but not as the facilitator of
the class. Therefore, we could say that this episode is beneficial for us, as future
teachers in a way that it had helped us to discover the things we must know as the
facilitators of online class like creating a class or producing a link for us to be able to
meet virtually, admitting students in the class and the right ways on manipulating the
different kinds of apps for virtual class. Prior to this episode, we already experienced
screen sharing when reporting but as we explore, our skills and knowledge in
discussing online or in virtual meeting has improved not just as the reporter but as the
facilitators. As a matter of fact, this episode is not just about how to manipulate apps
but also how to handle our students online. We are also able to come across the things
we have to consider when handling high school students just like situations wherein
students are sharing in one device just to attend in the virtual meeting.

1. How ready am I in organizing and using apps in the teaching-learning process?

I can measure my readiness in using the apps for teaching and learning process in
a way that I know how to set up and use properly the app that we are using in

online class which is the Google meet. We all know that this app contains a lot of
features that are ideal for the teaching-learning process. Through the use of this,
we can conduct synchronous class by creating link and send through student's
Email or on their Group chats so that they can simply be able to join the class.
Aside from using the google meet, we also utilized the Messenger app to
communicate to our students, facilitate social interactions, and for sharing of
learning materials. This application is time saver because materials are sent
through a message instead of being distributed individually by the teacher.
2. What do I need to learn in order to use apps in teaching effectively?
Since the only medium for online learning is through the use of online application,
the first thing that I need to learn is the appropriateness of an application for the
class that I need to teach. To be able to teach effectively, I need to consider first
the subject that I will teach then the proper application to execute it in the right
way. For example, If I want to virtually meet my students, I will utilize the google
meet or zoom which has videoconferencing ability that I can use to discuss my
lesson, to great my students or to have an effective teaching-learning process.
Also, if I want to administer a quiz, I should acquire skills in managing apps like
kahoot, quizlet, socrative and even Edmodo to facilitate well the learnings of my
students. Instructional design models can be helpful in deciding what technology
to use and how to use it to facilitate high quality student learning experiences

3. What can I do to learn more about and practice the use of educational apps?
Using educational applications is a crucial part of online learning. It needs a lot of
knowledge about the technology, application, and the manner of using it. And if
you are living in a traditional setting it would be difficult for someone. To
expound my ability to learn about this medium, I need to read more about this one
and make some practice on how to use it. Probably, by doing reviews or tips on
the internet might do a thing or two. There are a lot of resources the can be found
