I have finished the Advent Calendar - sadly it's too late for this Christmas but there's always next year. I stitched little ornaments for it but they turned out to be too large. I decided to sew clear plastic vinyl (hence the glare in the picture) over the days of the month to form pockets. Inside each pocket is a word for the day so the granddaughters can expand their vocabulary. The pockets are really too small to hold any sort of wrapped candies so I put a pocket at the bottom to hold some candies which may soften the harshness of vocabulary lessons during Christmas break. The words in the pockets are:
Brave, Careful, Caring, Fair, Forgiving, Gentle, Good, Grateful, Helpful, Honest, Joyful, Kind, Loving, Obedient, Patient, Polite, Positive, Prayerful, Respectful, Sharing, Smart, Strong, Thankful, Warm, Wise
Here is a
link to my wip that shows the days stitched in green thread inside the pockets (covered up by the words on slips of paper that I have inserted in the pockets for the picture here).
I may have to stitch this calendar again and next time follow the directions and stitch it on 14 count so the ornaments I have stitched can be put to use (the finish here is stitched on 18 count).
As a man thinks in his heart, so is he. [Proverbs 23:7]
