Lesson Plan

Kahoot as an Innovative Tool for Instruction Delivery

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

● Understand how Kahoot can be used as an alternative method for delivering instruction.
● Identify and explore key features of Kahoot.
● Create or participate in a Kahoot quiz to experience its use in the classroom.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Kahoot as a game-based learning platform that allows teachers and students to create
and participate in multiple-choice quizzes, discussions, and surveys in a competitive format. It
promotes active learning and enhances student engagement.

Learning Resources:

● Devices (phones/tablets/computers) with internet access.

● Kahoot app or website (www.kahoot.com).

III. Procedure

A. Activity:
B.
● Start with a short introduction to the Kahoot app, explaining what it is and how it works.
● Conduct a live Kahoot quiz on a familiar topic (e.g., current events, history, or a subject
they are currently studying) to engage students.

B. Analysis:

Ask students about their experience:

○ What did they enjoy?

○ What challenges did they face during the quiz?
○ How did they feel about the competitive aspect?

C. Abstractions:

● Introduce the different features of Kahoot (e.g., question types, images, videos, timers).
● Highlight best practices for creating engaging quizzes (e.g., varying question formats,
including fun facts).
D. Application:

● Have students work in pairs or small groups to create their own Kahoot quizzes on a
specific topic assigned by the teacher.
● Provide time for students to present their quizzes to the class, allowing peers to
participate in the game.

IV. Assessment

Conduct a quiz to assess knowledge retention of the subject matter using Kahoot. Analyze
results for understanding.

● How does using Kahoot make learning more fun in the classroom?
● Can you explain the steps to create a quiz on Kahoot?
● What do you like most about using Kahoot, and what do you think could be better?

V. Assignment

Students will create a Kahoot quiz with at least 10 questions on a topic of their choice. They
should include a mix of question types (multiple choice, true/false, puzzles) and submit the quiz
link for class participation in the next session.

 VI. Reflection

After conducting this lesson on Kahoot, I realized how powerful digital tools can be in enhancing
student engagement. Kahoot has proven to be more than just a fun quiz app—it transforms the
learning experience by making it interactive and enjoyable. Students were not only excited to
participate but also more focused and motivated to learn, which shows the potential of
integrating technology into education.

What stood out to me was how quickly students adapted to the app, exploring its features and
coming up with creative ways to use it for learning. This lesson opened their minds to the idea
that learning doesn’t have to be rigid or boring. They saw that education can be playful and
collaborative, which helps reduce anxiety around assessments and activities.

I also reflected on how important it is to use tools like Kahoot to cater to different learning styles.
The app encourages participation from all students, even those who are shy or less inclined to
speak in traditional classroom settings. It levels the playing field and gives every student a
chance to succeed.

On the other hand, I realized that creating lesson plans like this one requires attention to detail
and thoughtful preparation. The process wasn’t difficult, but it required focus and understanding
of the app's capabilities to ensure a smooth learning experience. I’m grateful for the structure
that guided me through planning because it allowed me to deliver the lesson effectively.

Finally, this experience has inspired me to continue using Kahoot in future lessons. Its potential
to keep students engaged while reinforcing key concepts is invaluable. I now see how digital
tools can transform classrooms into vibrant, interactive spaces, making learning not only
effective but also fun.
● Group Activity (20 minutes):
○ Divide the class into small groups and have them create their own Kahoot
quizzes using the app.
○ Each group will choose a subject or topic and make a 5-question quiz.
○ Allow time for one or two groups to present their quiz to the class.

P4. Assessment/Testing Part

● Formative: Observe students' participation during the demo Kahoot and group work.
● Summative: Review the quizzes created by the groups, checking for relevance,
accuracy, and creativity in question creation.
● Participation points: Award points for the top performers during the quiz sessions.

P5. Assignment

● Ask students to create their own individual Kahoot quizzes at home based on a specific
lesson or subject.
● Students will share their quizzes in the next class and challenge their peers to answer.
