I hesitated to write this, but I need to share our situation in Gaza. Our home, which housed 11 people, was destroyed in a recent bombing. We now live in a tent in Az-Zawaida without basic necessities. We need $5,000 per person to leave, but the crossing is closed. Any help is deeply appreciated.

My sister, a nursing graduate, volunteers at Al-Aqsa Hospital. Another sister is suffering from the effects of the war. Our mother is elderly and sick, and our father is deaf.

Mohammed is recently dealing with the worrying possibility that his father may have cancer, and they are now waiting the results from the hospital. His father is deaf and cannot speak or hear. His elderly mother is also sick. They are already dealing with a literal genocide I cannot imagine how stressful this must be for the family!

Mohammed is responsible for 11 family members, including his 5 children: Sama (15), Amal (13), Wisam (10), Hamad (6), and little Saeed, who is only 2 years old! They are now living in a tent and they do not have a lot of basic necessities. to completely remove the benign tumor in the arm of the abusweireh patriarch, an excision biopsy must be performed as advised by the assigned healthcare worker in this case. @hatem1190 gave me permission to share with you all an image of the pathology report. hoping that this will move more people to action and campaign for the abusweireh family. please trust the brothers hatem and mohammed when they share with us a glimpse of their lives. this is not easy for them. think of your loved ones when you think of my friend @hatem1190 and his family.

i was talking to mohammed a while ago about his kids and i can't help but feel for him and the other palestinian grownups doing everything to secure their children's lives. a lot of us suffer from illnesses that cannot be seen by the eyes. but my mind cannot truly comprehend what must it be like surviving an ongoing genocide scared for your life and everybody else's. i am sure each of us carry a story of struggle and i am sure that it was an easier burden when someone was there to remind us that we are not alone in our battle.

this family needs a support system to give them hope, and so i am once again asking you to please help @hatem1790. if you advocate for mental health awareness, then do consider donating to and campaigning for the abusweireh family and other palestinian families.

it is very easy to continue living without being bothered by the violence enacted to people from far away places. but it's still wild to me to continue seeing tumblr users, who have the capacity to help, turn away their heads. anyway, i am asking those who genuinely care for the wellbeing of palestinians to listen to what they've been saying for almost a year (+75 years) of zionist occupation. speak up. stand with palestine. save lives.

Today, I learned that Hatem and Mohammed's father will be undergoing diagnostic tests to determine if he has cancer. I can't think of the additional physical and emotional toll of this news on both brothers and the whole family. I don't know how terrifying it must be to be told that a loved one is facing a risk of a major critical illness (while being besieged for way too long without any help from the world) and you can't do anything to protect them. And it's so apalling how they have to share vulnerable moments with the public to ask potential contributors to please give them a chance at life. Shame on this world. Their GFM has been stuck at 7%, and only €15 worth were added this week. Please do something! They are being deprived right in front of our eyes!

Last Oct 10th, during world mental health day, I was supposed to update this post and appeal to mental health advocates to consider helping the Abusweireh family members who had been suffering from sicknesses they got from being constantly targeted. However, I was busy doing cancer related personal stuff, thus I missed my opportunity to do so. Right now, I am once again begging every single reader of this thread to please make a donation or a post or a video or what ever helpful gimmick that could reach the hearts and minds of people for the Abusweireh family. You can ask @hatem1190, the GFM organizer and brother of Mohammed Abusweireh how you can further make an impact. They are a good friend of mine and a very kind person. in my country depending which region, it is around 8 to 10 USD (accdg to ph stat authority and ibon foundation). but even tho the purchasing power of peso may be constantly declining, we still manage to donate to GFMs. because we know the feeling of being abandoned during calamities and emergencies.

and like srsly what are small sacrifices to pay that could be earned in an average day compared to a life so precious that could not be taken back, right?

on the other hand, this is the reality faced by our palestinian siblings before oct 7:

i am asking people once again to spare my friend @hatem1190 some support. i made a poll 5 days ago for him and his family. almost a week later and there's still almost little to no donations. read his blog and his gfm. idk how to tell you the pain they went through all their life and the pain they are still going through right at this moment. it should be enough as fellow human beings that we feel and relate to them.

Hatem and Muhammad are my friends. They tell me about their children and they always remind me how beautiful life is when my fears are seeping through my replies. I am sorry if this is so repetitive to some of you but I really really really need you to please please do consider donating and sharing their story and campaign. They have lost a lot of relatives in this genocide already. They have been through hardships I would never be able to comprehend. But they do not let this distract them from doing good deeds to their fellow. The €45,000 goal might seem like a big job but many hands always make light work if those hands are willing to make small sacrifices. I hope they inspire you to be a better version of yourself. I hope you guys do your best in advocating for them. Hatem and Muhammad are good people. Please do not let them fend for themself. We owe them hope and so much more.
