It's with a heavy but hopeful heart that I watch Palestinian families fundraiser on here, slowly accumulating the precious little money to go around that they need to survive. However, not everyone is so lucky. A lot of Palestinians that have not had that kind of luck, that did not get early verification, that did not get massive platforms behind them from large bloggers, have approached me in my inbox, asking me kindly to do what I can for them. It kills me that I have so little to give myself, but I've seen this platform collectively raise enough to change someone's life. I've made a list of Palestinian fundraisers that are extremely low on funds, in the hope that drawing attention to people who have not been lucky at all can help turn that luck around. I know most of us can't possibly give enough to get all of these families safe in one go. But please, reblog this list. Pick one or two fundraisers, give what you can, and then keep track of it. Slowly, collectively, we can make a difference in these people's lives. Share and donate as much as you can. https://docs.google.com/document/d/178EGDFKkHlh3y4TMVX82kqgITHsqtoMdNccI2f_94Os/edit?usp=sharing

For the person in my messages who asked for tips on tackling the Silmarillion and then suggested that I put them in a post โ€” here they are! This is just my personal opinion, and others have weighed in on this topic before. But in case itโ€™s helpful:

1. Be kind to yourself about this task! Thereโ€™s a reason lots of people find the Silm challenging, and if you do, too, thatโ€™s no judgment of you.

2. IMHO, the first few chapters are the hardest, so try not to let them intimidate you out of the whole thing. It starts off with this very formal, archaic tone, and the early chapters take on some very abstract, metaphysical ideas. But you get used to the tone, and the story comes down out of the clouds to something more grounded and closer to a traditional (but still mythological-style) narrative. (Note โ€œhardestโ€ does not mean โ€œbadโ€ โ€” I love those chapters!)

3. Realistically, you are not going to remember every name, place, and detail, so have a plan for that. Everythingโ€™s got a thousand names and Tolkien doesnโ€™t always do a good job telegraphing what info is significant and will come back later vs what will literally only ever be mentioned once in passing. So expect to take some notes or spend time flipping back to earlier chapters or to the index or just googling as needed to remind yourself exactly who that angry elf is and why itโ€™s a big deal that his own magical dog wants nothing to do with him now.

4. Find someone to read along/discuss with you. Talking about it helps you retain the info better, puzzle out stuff you found confusing, and stoke your interest by letting you dive deep into characters or themes or ideas that are especially amazing (Gwindor my beloved!). You can read along with someone in real life, someone here (hi!) or with a podcast or YouTube series, of which there are a bunch that go through the book chapter by chapter in an accessible way. (If anyone wants recs for this purpose, just LMK!)

5. Embrace that the story is nuanced and complex, which means your reaction can be the same. If you read it and find yourself wondering, โ€œIโ€™m not sure how to feel about [cursed human X] doing [morally objectionable thing Y]โ€ or โ€œI donโ€™t understand where [spider-shaped creature of darkness Z] came from and how she got so incredibly cool powerful?โ€ โ€” that doesnโ€™t mean you read it wrong! There is room for interpretation, and a lot of questions raised by the book donโ€™t actually have obvious answers. (Questions like, is evil ever justified? Can redemption be earned and how? What do we owe to others even at a cost to ourselves? Big stuff!)

6. DNF it if you want! Thereโ€™s no rule that says you have to read the Silm to be a Tolkien fan, and you donโ€™t have to suffer through something you find unpleasant just to earn some Tolkien Points. I think itโ€™s a gorgeous book that feeds my need to wrestle with big Life Questions while giving me some indelible characters that will always stay with me, but you donโ€™t have to think that. Art is subjective, and there are plenty of other ways to enjoy Tolkien if the Silm turns out not to be your thing.

The war is back again.

Dear, we in Gaza are now subjected to genocide and the execution of young men, women, and children.

We in Gaza are subjected to persecution, violence, hunger, and pain.

We in Gaza see our children dying before our eyes, and we cannot even hug them and bury them.

The pain increases day after day. ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”

Houses and tents are being bombed, even hospitals have not been spared.

We are now in danger of death. We are forced to flee from our current location to a safer place for our children. Please, I beg you, help us. We do not want to lose our children in this war. We have lost everything we own. All that remains is our exhausted souls. We want a safe life. We do not want to die.

Mohammed is dying in my arms... and I can't save him ๐Ÿ’”

How does a father cope with the moment when he sees his child slipping from his grasp, suffocating in front of him, trembling, groaning in pain, while he can do nothing but cry? How do I bear Mohammed's gaze as he stares at me with eyes filled with fear, silently asking, "Father, why are you letting me die?" And I have no answer. All I have is my tears falling down his little face, as if they're an apology for not being a father capable of saving him.

My son is dying in front of me.His breathing is fading. His body is trembling. His eyes are fading.

And the doctors are looking at me with merciless looks: "Either surgery immediately... or prepare to say goodbye."

His goodbye? How can a father hear those words and live? How can I stand helpless and watch my child slip through my fingers, knowing there is a chance to save him, but it isn't mine?

Mohammed is suffering from severe lung infections, and his tiny body can no longer resist. He needs urgent surgery, but I am poor, destitute, and unable to afford life. How can money be the barrier between me and saving my child? How can I accept that disability is the reason I lose him?

I feel like I'm living an endless nightmare... trapped in a moment that repeats itself mercilessly, a moment in which I see him in pain, unable to do anything. Don't let me bury him, knowing that I could have saved him if only a compassionate hand had reached out to me.

Please, don't let him die.Don't let my shroud be in my little one's hands.Don't let his voice fade forever while you still have a chance to save him.

Every passing minute steals him further from me... every moment brings me closer to disaster. Any support, any sharing, any heart that moves to save him could mean the difference between life and death for my child.

๐Ÿ’” Please... Save Mohammed before his name is written among the departed... before this plea turns into an elegy. ๐Ÿ’”

**Time is Running Out**

Imagine enduring a harsh winter in a tent made of tarpaulin, with nothing to shield you from the elements.

I am pleading for help to save my family from this life-threatening situation.

Please, we need your support to escape this danger and find a safe place to live.

$3,158ย USDย raised of $20K goal!

Ahmad is only 14 years old and dreams of becoming a doctor. He is living with his 16-year-old sister and his parents. He is fundraising so they can buy basic necessities!

๐Ÿ†˜/To Alaa and my family in Gaza

All thanks and gratitude for your humanitarian stances with us and your help in this critical and difficult time

15 months of displacement and famine have increased our suffering and difficulties incredibly.

I used all the words of sadness and sorrow to describe the situation we had reached, but these words were not enough.

We lost relatives and friends, my brother and father were injured, our house was destroyed, our car was burned, and everything was lost.

The scale of the suffering and tragedy is much greater than what you may have seen or witnessed on social media.

My dear friends

You can support my family either by donating or by sharing my campaign link with others so that the goal is reached as soon as possible.

Please help us we are very tired and no one is looking at us

I hope everyone will donate and share my story.

I am the main provider for two disabled roommates while being disabled myself. One of my roommates has cancer, both have been in and out of the hospital this month. With so much time spent at the hospital, my job not allowing the usage of public wifi, and constantly needing to do chores+caretaking, I've barely been able to work this month.

I am exhausted, drowning in expenses, and no longer holding up mentally.

Right now, we need about $1,500 to just be able to catch up and get necessities while also being able to pay rent. Our rent is due on the 1st with no grace period.

Dm for details or proof, I have all the medical records for this shitshow, I'm just trying to keep this short. Vetted by @kyra45-helping-others who does scam busting here.

Hello all, Nedaa has reached out to me and asked if I could make a post for her families fundraiser.

Nedaa, her husband Abd al-Rahman Mohisn, and their two children have been struggling ever since October 7th of 2023. In January, they were forced to evacuate from their home and walk in the freezing cold towards Rafah, before being forced to flee once again to Khan Yunis, and then were displaced again. Their home has been destroyed by Israeli bombing, and they struggle greatly every day to get the basic necessities of food, water, and medical supplies.

This is a family who's fundraiser has barely gotten any attention, and could really use your help! Families like these need as much attention as we can give them, and any amount donated helps a lot.

A stunning piece by the incredibly talented Notte @rhymeswithfart , inspired by our true story one that began on January 27, 2025, and continues to unfold.

Please, do not become accustomed to the scene. The war is not completely over yet, and we must not forget the harsh days we have endured.

We need every helping hand, every heart in solidarity, and every voice to amplify our cause. Reviving life here is not a choice it is an obligation we all share. Let us come together on this journey of healing and restoring hope.

What Strength Really Means ๐Ÿ’ช

โœ…๏ธ Vetted by @gazavetters {537}โœ…๏ธ

Hey everyone, my name is Abdelmajed. I donโ€™t usually talk much about myself, but today, I want to share a little piece of my story.

I was born and raised in Gaza, a place that has always been my home ๐Ÿก. I grew up surrounded by my family, my friends, and the streets that I knew like the back of my hand. Life wasnโ€™t always easy, but we had love, laughter, and dreams. I used to think that no matter what happened, home would always be here. But life has a way of changing things in ways we never expect.

Over the past months, everything I once knew has disappeared. The streets that were once filled with children playing are now silent. The houses that held so many memories are now just rubble. And the people I lovedโ€”some of them are gone forever. ๐Ÿ’”
