My writing desk / My French house

I finished the writing desk. The desk is for my French house. It is a dollshouse by Tollgate miniature. The postcard album is by Marleen and the flover & vase by Lena.

I bought the house last year in Soest/Germany on a dollshouse fair.

It is a very little house (only 2 rooms) and so I decided to finish this house this year (I mean to finish the big "work" wallpaper, to paint the windows, electro.... in the base I will make a little bathroom and a hall (maybe I can use the delprado stairs??????)

writing desk part 1

Last year my friend Bärbel made this wonderful writing desk for me as a birthday present. Wow I was spechless (normally I speak a lot..)
I will put this desk into my little French House which I bought last year.

My holiday projects

Sorry for no posting for such a long time. I was on holiday without my laptop (yes I have forgotten it...)

I spent my holiday in our caravan at the Belgium seaside. During the day I painted the new fence for our garden (so my little dogs can not escape so often....yes they really love cats and rabbits..).
Of course I made also some minis. Some books for the library (yes I know that's children books but later I will replace them - I will make some leather books). I made only the books which you can see in the left shelf. All of them are readable.
For the library I bought 8 shelves. Maybe I can make the books more older.

It is a very old house and so there are some ads on the walls.

I will make also a stair and some old lamps. At the moment I am more than happy that this ufo (unfinished projects I am a specialist for that) is nearly finish!!!.

My French House

Today I made some flowers (I used Flower Soft)and some window shutters for the house.
I found the shutters on the internet.

I used 120 gr paper for the shutters. Later I used varnish (no glossy one) to make the paper more stable.
Tomorrow I will make some ironwork for the windows.
Yesterday I tried to make a roof (I used the candle holder...but the result was a catastrophe so there is no photo of the roof)

A new "old" house

Sometimes I start with a mini and than I am not longer interested in (that happend very often). This dollshouse is also such a project. Yesterday I found it again in one of my plastic boxes....
I started about 2-3 years ago with the house....now I will finish it!!! Really (o.k. I hope it)....
I changed the windows a little bit....and today I will make a new roof. I will use the little candle container.

My attic swap

So here is a photo of my attic swap. I made 8 mattresses for my swap group. Only one swap partner is interested in an old dirty mattress (so I have not so much work!!).
Tomorrow I will show you the dirty mattress.

In June is the next swap. It is a brocante (shabby) swap. I will make some beds for the mattresses. One of my swap partner will make a night table, someone a bedspread, someone some pillows.....

Real water in my country dollshouse

I wrote a little reportage "How to assembly a dollshouse" for the German dollshouse magazine 1zu12. It is the story of my country dollshouse. I started my hobby as a little girl...
As a child I had also a wooden dollshouse (a second hand house by my cousin) but I prefer to built my own houses from cardboard boxes....
Later I saw the delprado dollshouse on tv and decided to buy it (thanks to ebay so the price was o.k.). The quality of the house was a catastrophe!!!
So I decided to buy a new one for 39 US$.

For my country house I used a lot of delprado parts: handles, hinges, window dormer, the armchair in the living room. I made my timber wood from the delprado dollshouse (I cut all the terrible wood in small piece!).......

The house was not very big so I decided also to build a little garden, a barn.....

I had so much ideas for the house but I wanted to have something specail for my dollshouse. My idea was to create something with water. At christmas time I saw a little fountain in a D.I.Y. shop!!!!! It was a fountain for a crèche.
So I built a little barn and put the fountain in one of the walls. In the barn is also the transformer of the dollshouse. I put the switch power strip into the chimney.
The country dollshouse is my first house which I assembled.

Country dollshouse - bedroom

Bed by EuroMini (I painted the black metal bed with a mixture of white acrylic paint and water and made the bedlinen. The night table is an old film canister.

I used some family photos for my dollshouse so it is more personal......

I paid only 39 US$ for the kit and I used a lot of delprado parts for the house (f.e. the dormer window).....

Attic swap in progress

So here is an update of my attic swap...
Today I tested my new mini sewing machine (from ebay). It is o.k. for mini projects (but nothing for normal sewing work) because it is a straight stitch sewing machine! The machine is also very loud (compared with my "big" machine). I paid about 20 € incl. shipping costs.

Swap idea - an old mattress for the attic

Today I will start with my attic swap. Some years ago I made an old mattress for my attic (it is in my Country house which I finished 2006).
I found only an old blue/white fabric (my old summer trousers)....
Tomorrow I will post the result of mattress no. 1 (we are 8 in our swap group..so I have to do a lot..)

Today I put all my pictures into the little Buttercup dollshouse. I found also a cheap metal milk churn in one of my plastc boxes and an old oval frame so I made 2 new kitchen minis.

A bedsidetable for my Buttercup

Today I finished my little bedside table for my Buttercup.
I bought the table for 0,50 € on a dollshouse fair and used some blue and brown paint.

Some days ago I ordered some "false teeth"......but they are to big (made by Euromini)....so I have to put something on it. I found a little cross so I made a little bible.
The glasses was also in one of my boxes (I buy very often minis but I have no idea for which project! So I put them into boxes and bags...maybe one day I have a better system how I can find them.....I only found the sun glasses....I hope to find the reading glasses in the next days....
the rest are printies which I found on the internet.
Shaving brush, tray and cup made by Chrysnbon I added only some blue paint on the plastic minis.

Pelmet Workshop

Today I made a little pelmet for my buttercup. Here is the workshop. If you have a question just send me an e-mail to:

In the internet I found this pattern for the palmet:

I used pattern H for my pelmet. I copied the pattern into ms-word and changed the size.



I glued the pattern on an old postcard. For my pelmet I used 2 wooden beads (each about 8 mm wide but you can also use a rest of balsa wood).
Cut the pattern plus 16 mm extra (2 x 8 mm).




Glue the fabric on both side of the pattern! It looks not nice if there is nothing on the backside of your pelmet (a lot of people forget that).
Than form the side of the pelmet and glue the beads on the fabric.



This is the frontside of your pelmet.



Now you can glue a ribbon on your pelmet and add some lace as a little curtain for your pelmet.



This is a photo of my Buttercup's living room. I had some problems to take a good photo of my new pelmet because it is a dormer window.
