random scene: *either mario and luigi are upset about something, and the other bro comforts them and reassures them that everything's going to be okay, and that they'll never be alone because they'll always have each other*

Mario notices how Luigi looks forlorn as they sit among the flowers on Bitsi Islet. He can tell by the dull twinkle in his eyes and the sad way he is gazing at the lone flower gently held in his fingers.

The older plumber shuffles closer and wraps an arm around his shoulders. Luigi’s head leans against his shoulder before pressing his face against his neck…Mario feels hot moisture trickling down his skin and his heart breaks at the barely suppressed sobs.

“Lu…what’s wrong? Are you hurt?”

A tiny nod is his answer which peaks his anxiety. He takes a breath to calm himself…his little brother needs him…

“Where?”

Luigi points at his heart while still clutching the flower like the most precious treasure he possesses…silence reigns for a while until the younger man softly blurts out, “I miss Daisy, Mario…I wish she’s here with us…with me…”

Sad realisation and guilt fill his being as he pulls his weeping brother closer to cuddle him. Peach is at least here with them where they can have some moments together…yet it’s not fair that Luigi can’t have the same blessing without his beloved princess during this adventure.

He threads his fingers through his little brother’s hair and gives him a kiss on his forehead.

“It’ll be okay. You’ll see Daisy again, little bro. I’ll make sure of it…after we save Concordia together, we’ll invite her over to the Mushroom Kingdom or go over to visit her in Sarasaland as soon as we can…I’ll talk to Peach when we get back to Shipshape Island. I’m very sure she feels the same way about her.”

At this, Luigi looks up at his big brother through his stilling tears. The shine in Mario’s eyes is resolute and warm with ever present love and kindness…he feels so lucky to have a big brother like him.

“You’ll do that for me, big bro?”

“Of course! Your happiness and wellbeing mean a lot to me, little bro. I’m sure by the time you see her, you’ll have lots of stories to tell her.”

Mario observes Luigi sniffing and wiping away his tears before lunging to give him a bigger cuddle. He smiles and reciprocates the gesture as he pulls the younger man closer to nuzzle cheeks with him.

“Thanks, Mario,” Luigi sincerely says as he presses a kiss on his temple.

“Anytime, Luigi…”
